This is a full-time ultrasound tech position at Sanford Women's Ultrasound Diagnostic Center. You would join our highly trained and enthusiastic team of medical sonographers dedicated to Women's Healthcare. Each of them is board certified or board eligible as Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. Here at Sanford Women's Ultrasound Diagnostic Center, we have multiple state-of-the-art rooms dedicated to performing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-trimester obstetrical exams along with saline infusion sonography, transvaginal gynecological exams and 3D ultrasound. Staff work closely with physicians and support staff. We are proud to be accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). This position involves weekend call rotation and Maternal-Fetal Medicine outreach.

Summary

Responsible for performing ultrasounds in a professional and diagnostic manner. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.

Job Description

Thoroughly understand the operation of the ultrasound machine and utilize new technologies. Performs a variety of ultrasound examinations. Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with patients and all organizational staff.

Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the sonography field. Displays empathy, compassion, and integrity.

Possesses an understanding of cross-sectional anatomy. Conducts self professionally at all times, even during moments of high stress.

Assists when necessary with the maintenance of accreditation requirements and processes. Understands age-related protocols for various testing. Coordinate work with physicians or other healthcare team members, including providing assistance during invasive procedures when applicable.

Supervises and train students and medical sonographers as needed. Reports and calls in-service requests on equipment when needed.

Additionally, based on the facility, some Sanford markets/facility sites may expand job responsibilities to include echocardiography.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Imaging, Allied Health Certificate/Diploma or a minimum of one year
equivalent work experience is preferred.



Registration in at least one of the following areas of sonography is required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or registry eligible.

Registry preferred within two years after hiring.


Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.

For employees who provide outreach mobile services, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required. This may include passenger on flights and occasional overnight stays at assigned sites. Employees are held to the Sanford category driver's license policy and medical guidelines when applicable for job duties.
