Performs a variety of technical procedures in the application of non-ionizing high frequency ultrasonic waves at the physician’s request for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Operates ultrasound instrumentation in accomplishing various ultrasound tests according to established procedures. Prepares patients for examinations and explains procedures to patients while performing studies. Recognizes the significance of all images that appear on the monitor. Differentiates artifacts from normal or pathological processes, to recognize electronic equipment limitations, and be capable of recognizing a diagnostic scan. Cleans equipment; cleans, adjusts and checks focusing on the cameras. Review journals, attends conferences and/or in-services to keep abreast of changes or enhancements in techniques and procedures. Reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Assists in other areas of the practice when patient volume allows. Participates in practice staff meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
