GENERAL DUTIES
Equipment Care:
•    Maintains, repairs all dialysis machines and water treatment equipment at a facility. Ensure these systems are running properly and the equipment is working according to strict specifications. Repair or replace parts as necessary and make sure the machine is working according to specifications.
•    May perform preventative maintenance and repair dialysis machines. Performs maintenance checks on the machines after appropriate hours of use or as designated. Follow equipment manufactures specifications and hospital policies and procedures.
•    Dismantles, cleans, disinfects/sterilizes dialysis machines and ancillary medical equipment.
•    Maintains support documentation as required.
•    Monitors R.O. system, log sheets for completeness and accuracy, noting any deviations.
•    Assists with performing electrical safety assurance, performance testing on all dialysis machines and related electrical equipment as required.
Training and Competency:
•    Educates other clinical and biomedical technicians regarding these requirements.
•    Provides training to dialysis teammates on taking of water cultures to ensure water quality meets Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) microbiological standards.
•    Follow up and resolve abnormal cultures with the department manager/leader.
•    Assists in providing instruction to dialysis teammates on the proper operation, utilization of dialysis equipment and systems.
•    Follows proper procedures and meets state and government standards at the dialysis facility.
•    Helps the facility meet these high standards so that guests at the facility can have safe and comfortable treatment.
Quality Improvement:
•    Reports inventories and supply shortages to appropriate manager.
•    Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services. Upon request, assist in performing unit-safety inspections to help ensure the same.
•    Participates in on site ESRD surveys and inspections by state and federal surveyors when notified.
•    Participates in quality improvement and cost containment programs.
•    Performs monthly biomedical audit, document findings to ensure that dialysis staff follows hospital policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•    Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience in repair and maintenance of dialysis equipment.
