*We have new rates!* To perform and deliver patient care activities and related non-professional services for the chronic hemodialysis patient under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Responsibilities:
Initiates, monitors patient throughout treatment and terminates hemodialysis treatments. Ensures patient safety through recognition and appropriate response to emergency situations. Notifies RN immediately. Performs and documents ongoing care of the Dialysis patient. Participates in established patient care plans and ongoing educational needs. Participates in patient and/or family conferences and serves as patient advocate. Assists with data collection and monitoring for P.I. Provides feedback to the RN/LPN regarding observations of patient. Sees that cultural practices will be addressed and supported as long as such practices do not harm others or interfere with the planned course of medical treatment. Participates in all duties assigned to machine tech and PCT. Maintains a clean environment and adheres to infection control practices in the Dialysis unit. Acts as a preceptor to all new dialysis technicians. Performs any other duties as assigned. Requirements/Qualifications:
Education:
Minimum – High School diploma
Experience:
Prefer a minimum of 1 yr hospital or dialysis experience.
Training/License:
BLS certification, must obtain National Dialysis Technician certification with 18 months of hire.
Other:
Has successfully completed hospital basic clinical patient care technician program and probationary period as a hemodialysis machine technician. Demonstrates excellence in customer relations and interaction with patients with respect to therapeutic milieu, contributing to maintaining an environment that supports patient care. Physical Requirements PHYSICAL ACTIVITY While performing this job, the employee will frequently be required to walk, sit and stand, employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently life or move up to 50 lbs, and on occasion, lift or move up to 100 lbs. The job requires close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate. Employee must have ability to speak, hear, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or organizations. Employee must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference and volume. While performing this job, the employee will frequently be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach and stretch with hands and arms. Works on computer frequently.
