Summary:
Under general supervision, performs advanced and expert level troubleshooting, diagnoses, repair, maintenance and reconditioning, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications of machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, hydraulic systems and pumps, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Understands the theory of operation for the Die Cast processes and all related ancillary equipment. Works independently, providing assistance and leadership to the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Performs self-directed reactive and planned maintenance which includes but is not limited to; observing devices in operation to location root cause of problem; dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts; examines parts to detect imperfections; adjustment of functional parts of devices and control instruments; repair and/or replacement of defective parts; testing of device to observe performance; tests for electrical and hydraulic circuitry and mechanical systems; orders supplies and repair items as necessary.
· Assist in continuous improvement of the PM work instructions; adding, removing, defining these instructions and express improvements suggested to the Maintenance Manager.
· Proactive maintenance activities that include repairing air leaks, oil leaks, replacing components, continuous improvement activities, project work, and minor repairs to equipment.
· Acts as a proactive project manager and works closely with the maintenance Supervisor. Analyzes and recommends engineered solutions to failures. Lays out, wire, builds, and troubleshoots electrical panels and/or other machinery.
· Provides leadership and assistance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· This position has no supervisory responsibilities. May train, orient, lead, assign or check the work of employees.

Requirements
Education and/or Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalency
· Minimum 2 years related experience in the Die Casting operations
Skills and Abilities
· Ability to interpret programmable logic controllers; I/O diagnostics, programming of safety interlocks and ancillary equipment interlocks, backing up and restoring programs, edit and documentation follow-up.
· Knowledge of UBE and Buhler Prince Die Cast machines, hydraulic systems.
· Knowledge of stackmelter functions and operations
· Knowledge of hot oil heating units.
· Knowledge of Rimrock sprayers/ladles mechanical functions and controls.
· Knowledge of Fanuc and ABB robots programs, manipulation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
· Knowledge of overhead cranes.
· Knowledge of plant air systems.
· Ability to operate a forklift.
· Ability to analyze and solve problems, use advanced diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and/or repair electrical, hydraulic or mechanical failures, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
· Set up process and program equipment for product change.
· Completion of die change report sheets.
· Interpret machine and equipment prints, as well as hydraulic or mechanical schematics for trouble shooting and repairing equipment.
· Enter and verify data for product and process changes in the Mentium process monitor.
· Calculate and enter P-settings using the Koyo shot position counter during product change UBE machines.
· Change various types of hydraulic pumps, valves and cylinders in the die cast department. (Vickers, Tokimec, Parker, Bosch etc.)
· Calibrate UBE and Prince tie bars using strain gages.
· Rebuild and change out shot end UBE machine.
· Rebuild Rimrock sprayer units.
· Rebuild Rimrock ladle units.
· Rebuild Regloplas hot oil units.

The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision. The employee must be able to enter, egress and traverse areas inside and outside of machinery, and must be able to climb ladders for purposes of inspection. The employee in this position works with safety critical products, therefore are required to have the ability to differentiate colors that are critical to job performance. Position require climbing and balancing around and on top of machines while simultaneously using various hand tools. The employee must have full range of motion necessary for moving in and out of all positions. Employee must have good sensation essential to gauge heat exposure when working around hot equipment, dies or furnaces.
Work Environment
The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This job is performed in a shop environment: hazardous materials; greasy, slippery factory floors.
