Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanic - Houston, TX

Turner Industries Group is looking for an experienced Diesel and Heavy Equipment Mechanic for the Houston, TX area. The successful candidate will have a background working on large diesel engines - Cat, Cummins, Detroit - as well as experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems on heavy equipment such as cranes and dirt moving machinery, and dump beds. This is a long-term position based at our campus in Houston with:\n\n40 Hours+\nOvertime and call-outs as needed - overtime paid at time-and-a-half\nHealth, (BCBS) Dental, (Delta) Vision, and Life insurance available\n401k with employer match from day 1, no vesting required\nShort\/ Long-term disability available
\nTadano, Grove, or Liebherr certification preferred\nPer diem and relocation is not available for this position; the successful candidate will be a current resident in the Houston metro area.\n\n

The successful candidate will be responsible for entering various petrochemical sites and performing repairs on existing equipment, primarily cranes. This will require a TWIC card, the ability to pass a background check, and attend HASC for training requirements to enter facilities. It will also require a valid Driver's License to drive a company repair truck.\n

General Job Description: \n

Repairs automotive equipment, including but not limited to, trucks, carts, buggies, air compressors, welding machines, cranes, dirt equipment and trailers. Non-exempt role; Reports to Direct Supervisor \/ Foreman; Assigned duties according to specific procedures \/ work is checked frequently.\n

Functional Requirements: \n

Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various automotive and heavy equipment, Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.\n

Qualification Standards: \n\nHigh school or equivalent\nGeneral gasoline and diesel engine knowledge\nAbility to diagnose and repair equipment\nOrganizational skills\nAbility to prioritize and work self-directed and alone at times\nASME certified preferred\nTechnical training and\/or industrial related safety experience \nPost-offer drug\/alcohol screen and physical evaluation \nSafety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.) \nApplicant\/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others at the workplace \n\n

Physical Involvement: \n

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and\/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing \/ sitting; walking; pushing; bending; kneeling; crouching\/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment\n
