**DESCRIPTION** We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician to join our Distribution business in Kearny, NJ. In this role will make an impact in the following ways: + Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop + Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools + Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles + Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies + Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products + Maintain own tools **RESPONSIBILITIES** In order to be successful in this role you will need the following: + Primarily engaged in maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics + Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality + Demonstrates an understanding on access to engine repair process information sources. + Understands after-treatment system and can identify major components and their function at a rudimentary level. + Has worked on external components on a diesel engine and understands the basic concepts. + Has some knowledge of engine diagnostic software **Compensation and Benefits** Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits **Education, Licenses, Certifications:** Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred) Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution Locally valid driving permit (Preferred) This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. **Experience:** Minimal level of work shop experience required Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products **QUALIFICATIONS** -Perform minor to complex repairs in a timely manner across different engine platforms installed in various vehicles and equipment. -Ensure repairs are completed according to published service manuals to ensure a high-quality repair is delivered to the customer. -Produce, keep, and maintain detailed service records including but not limited to: engine control module images, datalogs, and notes. -Work in a dynamic, fast paced Union shop environment reporting to shop Foreman or Supervisor. -Participate in all aspects of both the site and larger Cummins goal trees for each calendar year. -Complete all assigned training both in person and virtual. -Significant relevant industry or Cummins specific knowledge will be required for this role. -Cummins Technician Apprentice Program graduates or reputable technical school graduates preferred. -This role will be for the night shift starting at 3:30PM and ending at 12:00AM. - A current valid license is required for this role - This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations - This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical - 3 years driving experience - This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use - Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age - A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire - This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements.
