The starting pay is $28.77, rate increases to $33.85 after successful completion of 3200 hours worked.** **We are located at 1315 West Kingman Street San Bernardino, California 92411 United States** **Responsibilities** **Overview:** We are looking for a highly skilled **Diesel Truck Mechanic** to join our maintenance team at the railyard. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical systems on our fleet of semi-trucks and trailers. You'll also service hostlers, forklifts, and ensure regular maintenance schedules are met for all equipment. **Key Responsibilities:** + Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines (Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit) + Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems using schematics + Perform preventive maintenance on tractors, trailers, hostlers, and forklifts + Conduct full vehicle assessments and execute timely repairs + Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics accurately + Maintain detailed service records and ensure compliance with safety protocols + Monitor and adhere to routine maintenance schedules + Communicate findings and repair needs with the maintenance supervisor/team **Qualifications** **Requirements:** + 1–3 years of experience in semi-truck/trailer repair and maintenance + Proven experience with diesel engines and heavy equipment + Previous experience with Cummins INSITE is a plus + Hydraulic and electrical maintenance experience required + Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics + Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills + Familiarity with Cat, Cummins, and Detroit diesel engines + Experience with hostlers and forklifts is a plus + Experience with electric trucks is a plus + Knowledge of all diesel engine systems, including fuel, electrical, cooling, and exhaust + Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions + Must own necessary tools for the job + Willingness to work in varying weather conditions + Must own necessary tools for the job + Valid Driver’s License + Must pass a pre-employment background verification, physical and drug screening + The Federal Rail Administration sets and enforces safety regulations and standards for railroad operations.
