Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Diet Office Supervisor - Full Time, Days - Food&Nutrition-Patient Food Sv - Full-Time - 06:00 AM - 0.

In this role, the successful candidate This individual supervises the nutrition office and nutrition clerks and covers the Food Service Supervisor position when needed. This position works shifts with the other nutritional clerks while overseeing their work, maintains the computer system CBord, and addresses day-to-day issues within the office. The focus of the diet office is to ensure that patients receive appropriate diets and food in accordance with dietary prescriptions and individual menu selections.

Job Responsibilities:

Oversees Nutrition Office.
Performance Expectations:
    Provide suggestions for change when necessary to streamline or improve function in the Nutrition Office 
    Advice Clinical Manager, Chef and Director when a menu item is unpopular with patients or presents a problem with specific patients
    Assists in hiring, evaluating, and counseling diet office staff
    Prepares the office schedule
    Maintain communication with diet office staff
   Helps perform service recovery and helps to answer complaints and grievances

Maintain Patient Menu System.
Performance Expectations:
    Process Physician diet order and other pertinent computer information. 
    Print out tray tickets and reports and present in a neat manner.
    Record patient preferences in CBord cardex.
    Develop holiday menus on CBord
    Maintain CBord coding, adding new traits and items as needed
    Trouble-shoot computer issues on CBord, consulting with IT and CBord when necessary
 

Compile all necessary reports census, menu counts and specials
Performance Expectations:
    Accurately records special orders for production within the established time.
    Records census information.
    Keep production staff up to date on changes anticipated.
    Helps clinical manager with PI projects.
 

Maintains diet office communication.
Performance Expectations:
    Answers phone in a courteously and respectfully and brings out trays in a timely manner
    Takes other phone calls and relays information, answers questions about diets and menu items, refers to dietitian as needed.
    Communicates departmental notices and changes to diet clerk staff.
 

Takes and oversees patient menu selections
Performance Expectations:
    Visits patients with IPad, and distributes and collects menus within established timeframe.
    Assists patients with selections and provides alternatives and substitutions as needed.
    Distributes alternative menu brochure to newly admitted patients.
    Ensures clerks are visiting and/or calling patients for menu selections.
    Monitors overall efficiency of patient selection process.
 

Covers the Patient Food Service Supervisor position when needed.
Performance Expectations:
    Performs all duties of Food Service Supervisor when assigned.
    Watches tray line, makes assignment sheet, and directs personnel when necessary.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a A.A.S., A.A. or B.S. degree in Nutrition Related field is required. Registered Dietetic Technician (DTR) or Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) preferred.
Language skills for patient counseling and education, telephone orders, and professional conferencing.
Experience in a healthcare food service management
Experience in diet office system and methods
Computer skills
Able to stand for 80-90% of workday

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,500.00 - $64,350.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
