The Dietitian is responsible for providing basic nutrition assessments and care planning for patients and residents. Implements business practices in order to uphold hospital mission and values.
**Responsibilities**
A day in the life of a Dietitian at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
+ Directs dietary care of patients with basic nutrition needs including screening, assessment and care planning to ensure patient dietary needs and patient satisfaction levels are met.
+ Educates medical staff and counsels¿ patients and their families on proper nutritional care.
+ Manages and promotes food and nutrition programs according to Hackensack Meridian Health standards and policies.
+ Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, nutrition care, special diets and menu requests.
+ Stays current with most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications and standards of practice.
+ Probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues.
+ Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Hackensack Meridian Health policies and procedures (e.g. HIPAA/Privacy Act, quality assurance, safety, operations, personnel).
+ Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments.
+ Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
+ Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior
**Qualifications**
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
+ Bachelors degree
+ Entry level experience
+ PC skills and its applicable applications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
+ Acute care clinical or related experience
Licenses and Certifications Required:
+ Registered Dietitian Nutritionist within 60 days of entering position.
