Dietitian PD - Food & Nutrition - Mullica Hill

MAJOR FUNCTION:

Responsible for providing clinical nutrition services, including nutrition assessment, modified diet formulation, self-management training and nutrition intervention to patients. Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance and good public relations are achieved through the safe and efficient use of resources.         

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from an accredited college.  Completion of ADA approved dietetic internship program. One-year experience in dietetics in an acute care setting is preferred.            

Certification/Licensure:   

Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration or Registration Eligible.  Registration required within 6 months of hire.

Position Responsibilities

Documents all relevant aspects of medical nutrition therapy/assessments in accordance with standards of care per monthly chart audits:

•Consults are completed within 48 hours of referral. •Appropriate risk factor is assigned. •Appropriate charting format is used (scorecard). •Documentation of food preferences, allergies, & tolerances. •Documentation appropriate for age. •Incorporates current evidence-based research into practice. •Complies with regulatory standards, including federal, state and accrediting agencies.

Attends 80% of patient, department, and hospital meetings:

•Patient Care Management Meetings. •Committee Meetings. •Department In-services. 

Educates patients and consumers on nutritional care:

•Individual, one – on – one education. •Group classes. •Community speaking engagements. 

Monitors menus and prepares diet patterns:

•In compliance with physician's orders. •Timely and accurately. 

Serves as an educational resource to nursing and medical personnel:

•Orients, mentors and trains staff and interns, as applicable. 

Assists with care & maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

Maintains department records and files:

•Monthly report. •Current professional & accurate patient educational handouts. •Accurate and current communication/patient visit log. 

Enhances professional growth and development: 

•Attends seminars/lectures for CEU for RD status. •Familiar with current literature from professional journals.

Prepares written documentation as required by department: 

•Meal Rounds. •Test Trays. 

Participates in department in services as assigned.

Meets minimum requirement of 80% score on competency.
