The Equipment Engineer role can be broadly defined as the responsibility for the installation, functionality, and maintenance of an equipment toolset. This includes all the hardware and software in the toolset, as well as the interface to any other systems that the tool must connect to for its proper operation. A successful equipment engineer maintains the tool performance as measured by availability to production and primary quality metrics. Utilizing data analysis to drive the priority equipment engineering within the area.Safety & Quality:Safety and quality are primary characteristics of the work being performed. This includes completing the required safety training and conducting all work in accordance with safety policies and laws.
A safe and high-quality demeanor means following up and looking out for related issues immediately and works towards resolution with partners. We all perform and facilitate audits and submits good catches on safety issues to proactively reduces incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards, or environmental impact. We operate and maintain tools according to documentation and guidelines to ensure safety and quality expectations are met.
Communication & Collaboration:In order to work efficiently at a world-class level, we need to collaborate with all areas and work functions. This includes partnering with suppliers, process owners, and Shift Engineers/Technicians to execute daily activities and extraordinary activities that include issues that could cause yield loss, excursions, defects, tool restrictions, or output loss. These collaboration activities will happen naturally while working together in daily area meetings and periodic maintenance improvement, TPM, meetings. This teamwork will span the globe as you partner with counterparts at other fabrication sites.

Technical/Data Analysis:Analyzes data to make critical decisions and drive cost reduction activitiesProvides troubleshooting support for complex problems and address root causesServes as a key area resource for technical support and/or providing required technical resources to support TD requirementsIdentifies and develops a strategy for each workstation that will streamline PM frequenciesPartners with HVM sites to identify gaps and opportunities for workstation efficiencies, such as reviewing SPC, ETI, and Y3 to identify PM frequency optimization opportunitiesMaintains tool matching and drives machine hardware and s/w consistencyHandles all inventory lists and levels to ensure we have the parts for planned and unplanned maintenance events.Provides effective and timely guidance to resolve equipment issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolutionProject Management/Planning:Improving what we do and how we work is part of everyday activities Micron! You are responsible for partnering with equipment owners to develop, prioritize, and run projects. Often will be leading projects to ensure objectives are completed within the required scope, schedule and budget. Tracking actions and providing solution paths or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time will be required to be successful at project management. Collaborating with many people and different areas these projects will encompass the equipment life from the beginning to the end and ever-improving it along the way.
Successful Candidates must have the following Qualifications:Sophisticated PC skills including familiarity with MS Office suite and be able to adapt and be adept to new equipment programs that come along.Clear examples of strong leadership and teamwork skills to motivate and collaborate across a variety of groupsStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to efficiently organize teams and projectsAdvanced understanding of the Fab process areas including area processing equipmentKnow SPC principles such as improving CPK and reducing defectivity baselines and how the equipment affects SPC performance.Proven ability to communicate and present effectively to all audiences Intermediate data extraction, analysis, and reporting skillsKnows the ideal gas law and how changes to pressure, temperature, and amount of gas can affect a process. Knows what chemical reactions are and what reactions occur on process equipment.
