DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT OFFICER
Job Summary: The Digital Engagement Officer is responsible for actively building relationships with a portfolio of approximately 1,000 prospects annually. Leveraging digital technologies and humanized segmentation techniques, this position executes multi-channel concierge-like outreach to engage and steward emerging partners among the college’s 75,000+ alumni. The Digital Engagement Officer is a brand-new role in the organization and works as an active part of the Engagement team to advance the goals of the entire Division of Advancement, including regular collaboration with gift officers, volunteer liaisons, career services, and advancement communications staff. As such, they will need to be someone eager to have ownership of a new system. They will need to be a self-starter, have organization and initiative to manage many lines of communication at once. The Digital Engagement Officer will need to be curious and inquisitive of prospects’ desired engagement with and support of the college’s institutional priorities. A successful candidate will be warm and professional in communication with prospects, and they will need to follow up to effectively invite people into partnership to support the mission and vision of the institution. This position reports to Senior Executive Director of Alumni Engagement within the Division of Advancement. Job Responsibilities: + Develop and Execute Digital Engagement Strategies: Utilize digital technologies to engage and build relationships with a portfolio of approximately 1,000 prospects annually. + Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with gift officers, volunteer liaisons, career services, and advancement communications staff to advance the goals of the Division of Advancement, ensuring cohesive and effective engagement efforts. + Create and Manage Multi-Channel Outreach: Plan and implement multi-channel outreach initiatives, including social media, texting, and video conferencing, to engage and steward alumni and stakeholders, driving further philanthropic engagement. + Monitor and Analyze Engagement: Proactively monitor engagement metrics to identify opportunities for new initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and effectiveness of digital engagement strategies. + Content Creation and Communication: Develop content for social media and email communications that align with the department and college messaging, goals, and strategies, maintaining a professional and warm communication style with prospects. Desired Skills: + A skillset that leverages technology including social media platforms, texting, video conferencing software tools, and other digital tools to build rapport in a targeted, high-volume manner + The ability to actively engage and build relationships to successfully identify and qualify engaged alumni to be transitioned into the donor pipeline + Motivated and goal-oriented individual with the ability to work with a team as well as individually + Familiarity in the “menu” of engagement and philanthropic opportunities across the college (regional alumni events, on campus events, mentorship and volunteer opportunities, crowdfunding campaigns, fundraising priorities) to inform conversations and lead to solicitations + The ability to develop a network of contacts throughout the campus community + The ability to proactively monitor engagement to identify and launch initiatives that drive further philanthropic engagement. + Strengths in the planning and creation of content for social and email communications that align with the department and college messaging, goals, and strategies. + Understanding of industry best practices to maintain an awareness of successful initiatives utilized at peer institutions in the areas digital fundraising and engagement. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 1 year experience in alumni relations, community engagement, or fund development. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; understanding of higher education and the role of development, ability to travel and attend College functions during and after normal business hours, ability to work independently and in a team environment, establish priorities and meet deadlines are required. Work Environment: Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment.  The incumbent will be required to operate a personal computer and associated equipment such as computer printers and other office equipment used in day-to-day operations.  The incumbent may be required to travel and may need to make alternative arrangements for transportation. This is a hybrid position, with some on-campus presence required. This position is 37.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
