JOB TITLE: Digital Intern For Politics and Government Relations
PAY RATE: $20/Hourly
LOCATION: Washington, DC (Headquarters)
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP: September 2025 – November 2025; start and end dates are flexible

PURPOSE: The digital department supports a myriad of SEIU’s work. From organizing campaigns to elections and social media creation to capacity building. As the organization shifts to fight back against attacks on low-wage workers, immigrant communities, and working families, this intern will have an opportunity to increase their digital skills and aid our fight-back work. This role will be focused on supporting our federal-focused fight-back campaigns. From creating content for social media toolkits to supporting days of action and — this internship will be educational and a great networking opportunity.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Any one position may not include all of the specific duties and responsibilities listed. The intern will be responsible for assisting in a variety of digital communication tasks, including but not limited to:
Supporting Digital Campaigns: Assist in staffing worker organizing campaigns by helping to collect, create, and manage digital content. Content Development: Help with developing and scheduling content for digital properties, emphasizing engagement and lead generation. Social Media Coordination: Collaborate with the government relations and political departments to develop engaging social media content. Creative Collaboration: Work in coordination with SEIU staff to help plan and produce content for SEIU’s social media channels. General Support: Perform other duties as needed to assist the digital communications team in achieving its goals.DIRECTION & DECISION MAKING: This position reports to the Deputy Digital Director and works under close supervision and guidance.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: All applicants must have graduated from high school or an equivalency program and be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an academic program; a focus on journalism, marketing, political science, labor studies, or similar program is a plus.
Interest in digital media, social media management, or communications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience with social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and content creation. Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress and Craft. Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is a part-time internship position. The Digital Department Creative intern will mostly work remotely and be paid an hourly rate of $20. This role will involve attendance at rallies and lobby days, in person on Capitol Hill.
