Digital Office - Manager, Business Engagement (Marketplace Solutions)

Job Overview

The Manager, Business Engagement (Academy and Smart Construction) will be the technical leader for Komatsu North America’s digital solutions requiring integration with eCommerce marketplace solutions for our job site, equipment, and online training solutions. In this role, the successful candidate will mentor and coach internal Business Engagement teams, collaborate with our dealers and customers and cross-functional / cross-regional teams to improve business operations and outcomes across the Komatsu extended enterprise. They will organize and participate in strategic change initiatives which improve productivity and effectiveness; improve customer experience; respond to the “voice of the market”; enable data-driven decisions; support creation of new products and services in the Solutions or online learning space, specifically.

 

The Manager, Business Engagement will be involved with designing scalable, high-quality solution architectures that meet business objectives, ensuring that all components of the system integrate smoothly. This role is directly responsible for leading Komatsu’s digital transformation initiative and ensuring successful implementation of digital solutions.

 

This role is expected to:

Managing large program scopes (500K to a few million dollars) Managing teams up to 25+ individuals Enable relationship management, function as a primary contact for business and IT leadership. Manage global communications and strategies, roadmaps, and directions. Mentor and coach internal Komatsu digital office, business, and IT teams on best practices along with current and future visions Management of the key Business Analyst resources (direct reports) and vendor resources assigned to supporting key Digital Office/Digital Solutions across KNA Construction, Mining and other business units Program management and governance on high visibility end user facing digital solutions including: Academy ecosystem (D2L LMS and related applications) and Solutions ecosystem specifically around paywall integration Vendor Management and Contract management with a multi-vendor portfolio Collaborative work in conjunction with Komatsu Ltd HQ and digital solutions team across various business segments on Globalization of digital solutions Key Job Responsibilities

Identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes for Komatsu North America’s Academy and Smart Construction Marketplaces
Analyze competitor capabilities to benchmark Komatsu’s situation.
Apply industry knowledge to identify opportunities for technology-driven process improvements.
Communicate and effectively articulate end-to-end solutions and supporting roadmaps.
Investigate complex business issues, researching and identifying innovative solutions.
Engage in “voice of customer” activities to understand and articulate the end user’s needs.
Understand evolving technology and effectively communicate its potential business impact to stakeholders.
Develop KPI’s and reports on success of process improvement.
Collaborate with global teams to establish strategy, directions, roadmaps, project plans, and funding requirements.
Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and sponsors to identify key pain points, prioritize actions, draft solutions, and attain buy-in for plans.
Document future state business models
Identify and prioritize opportunities through quantitative and qualitative methods.
Develop change impact assessments, readiness surveys, change management programs, and adoption measurement plans.
Contribute to broader enterprise architecture vision and collaborate to drive architectural alignment across initiatives, business functions, global regions.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, and developers, to gather requirements and design comprehensive solutions.
Develop solution processes by defining the process and technology changes required to enable them.
Model future state processes, functional components, and data requirements for technology solutions (business and technical architectures)
Develop logical data models based on functional requirements.
Develop high-level architectures that address Komatsu business needs, including systems integration, data flow, and security.
Document key system factors such as data and transaction volumes, performance requirements, availability requirements, and reliability characteristics
Develop user stories to communicate requirements and characteristics.
Oversee the implementation of the solution, ensuring that it aligns with Komatsu’s architectural vision and meets quality standards.
Prepare RFIs and RFPs, conduct evaluations of commercially available solutions, and recommend the best option(s)
Reinforce the agile transformation of the enterprise by leading project teams practicing agile behaviors and ways of working.
May act as product owner for initiatives of portions of initiatives.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to internal or external development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure that solutions adhere to best practices, standards, and technical specifications.
Perform quality assurance reviews of project work products.
Provide leadership and expertise in the development of standards, architectural governance, business practices, and technology.
Lead organizational change management efforts or workstreams for enterprise transformation initiatives.
Conduct regular reviews, risk mitigation, and provide feedback to development teams to ensure alignment with design and operational goals.

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

BS in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or at least 10 years related professional experience.
3+ years in the business facing role, preferably with a major OEM or tier 1 supplier in the heavy equipment industry.
Outgoing, assertive personality with ability to present technical complexity through meaningful business dialog.
Ability to collaborate with global teams to establish directions, roadmaps, project plans, and funding requirements.
Facilitate workshops with stakeholders and sponsors to identify key pain points, prioritize actions, draft solutions, and attain buy-in for plans.
At least 2 years of project management with demonstrated experience using systems development methodologies, including agile methods, on two or more complete lifecycle projects.  Also includes requisite change management efforts for implementation of projects.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate through verbal and written modes to all levels of the business and across diverse teams.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-lingual, multi-cultural teams.
Experience working with vendors including 3rd party partners on content delivery and management of the overall user experience with the marketplace products.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%
Willingness to adjust work schedules to accommodate international meetings, host global visitors, etc.
 

Preferred Skills

Master’s degree and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification desired
Experience working in a Tier 1 OEM industry, preferably related construction, quarry, or forestry business segments.
People management skills including business analyst and project / program managers.
4 or more years of experience in IT project management/SDLC, with a focus on system design, software development, and solutions deployment.
Experience working with 3rd party Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably in a global environment.
Familiarity with databases, networking, and security principles.
Experience with microservices architecture, API management, and DevOps practices.
