In this role, you will work with HUB’s business and technology partners to design, build, and maintain the Digital Platform supporting the expanding portfolio of digital products, throughout every phase of their lifecycle. You will help ensure the availability and performance of mission-critical infrastructure and applications hosted within HUB’s cloud environment. Our ideal candidate can demonstrate a track record of partnering with business and technology teams to design, develop, and manage cloud infrastructures supporting digital products and solutions. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners and Designers, Solutions Architects, Application Development Managers, ITSM/Tooling and DevOps Teams, Agile Scrum and Program Management Teams, Internal Business Partners, Security and Compliance Teams, and the broader IT organization to deliver and maintain digital insurance products that our customers love. The successful candidate has a strong talent for designing, developing, integrating, and supporting cloud-based infrastructures for digital products. You will support every aspect of the digital platform lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, deployment, integration, and operations support for HUB’s suite of digital properties. Your responsibilities may include application and database administration, monitoring and alerting, production scheduling, release management, incident management, change management, and communications for the cloud-based infrastructures supporting HUB’s digital properties. And you will help develop the team’s digital platform engineering and operations capabilities and practices, leveraging each product's capabilities and best practices in support of HUB’s long-term digital strategy and the goals of each digital product in a timely and quality manner. The Digital Platform Engineer will have a proven ability to plan, design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure for strategic digital platforms, ensuring consistent performance and timely support. This teammate thrives in a matrixed and virtual environment, consistently builds strong working relationships with business and technology partners, communicates effectively, welcomes challenges, always drives for the best business outcome. **Note: this position is remote and can be anywhere in the US or Canada.** **In This Role, You’ll Get To:** + Build and manage HUB’s digital infrastructures and platforms, ensuring the availability and performance of HUB’s mission-critical suite of products and applications that are hosted within a cloud environment. Develop solutions by understanding and studying systems flows, data usage and work processes. + Understand the needs and challenges of the Business, Marketing, and Technical teams and devise solutions that advance their business and technical goals. Collaborate with product owners, design teams, technical leads, and other stakeholders to identify business, technical, and operational requirements. Review technical specifications from clients and vendors to confirm the adequacy, accuracy, and functionality of proposed solutions, + Ensure that the digital platforms align with the company's strategic goals and customer needs. Practice continuous improvement in standards, processes, designs, and tooling, + Partner with development teams to ensure that solutions are designed with customer user experience, scale/performance, and operability in mind. Assist and conduct application stack and systems decomposition research and engineering tasks, + Work closely with security and compliance teams to ensure that digital platforms adhere to corporate policies, address vulnerabilities, and align with industry standards, + In concert with the DevOps team, deliver a DevOps-enabled foundation that utilizes tools and processes to identify application issues rapidly and ensures ongoing production availability, + Assist in or independently create robust, scalable, and high-quality automation solutions for infrastructure-defined software development. Assist in configuration, tuning, and testing of tooling sets employed, + Connect the digital platform(s) to various systems and services. Identify potential technical issues and assist in engineering possible solutions. Carry out debugging, troubleshooting, modifications, and unit testing of custom solutions built on HUB's digital platform. + Define performance benchmarks and develop and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for environmental, application, and operational performance that align with business and program objectives, + In concert with the ITSM/Tooling team, monitor systems and application performance and system resource utilization to ensure the performance and reliability of mission-critical applications. Recommend approaches to address potential technical issues and to optimize availability and scalability, + Contribute to designing, developing, and integrating HUB’s digital platform engineering and operations frameworks, including policies, standards, guidelines, and tools. Ensure the frameworks promote consistency, repeatability, supportability, and scale, and enable the automation, orchestration, and monitoring of the products, applications, and supporting infrastructure throughout their lifecycle, + Be available 24/7 for any critical system issues that require immediate resolution, providing leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary IT team, and lead service-restoration efforts during critical outages, + Support root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures, mitigations, or needed changes, + Contribute to the evaluation of cloud applications, infrastructure, and associated costs at regular intervals. Recommend changes, upgrades, or improvements to support the scaling of HUB’s digital platform and the continued realization of HUB’s product goals. Contribute to the expansion, growth, and maturity of Enterprise Architecture. + Participate in “Technical Archeology” efforts (Platform and System Decomposition) to determine the digital platform needs to integrate with legacy, acquired, or new systems and services. Assist with application stack and systems decomposition research, + Engage with management regularly with reports on project status, activities, and achievements, + Partner with multiple internal and third-party resources, collaborating with business teams, IT, and vendors. Support efforts to plan and achieve project and operational goals, ensuring timely and effective achievement of commitments and deliverables, + Support an environment of growth and development and a culture of customer obsession, inclusion, agility, and learning. Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology, bringing forth ideas for modernization and improvement. Consultative skills with the ability to interpret and define technical requirements and solutions, while making recommendations to manage foreseen and unforeseen impacts on strategic programs and product offerings, + Extensive experience in system design and integration. Thorough knowledge of layered systems architectures and layered solutions and designs. Expertise in analyzing and documenting large-scale distributed systems. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and efficiently. + 5+ Years of experience with programming languages (PowerShell, python, shell scripting), + Extensive experience with TCP/IP, DNS, CDN, HTTP, WAF, OAuth, SAML, + 3+ years of experience with Azure infrastructure and O365 services and technology, + 3+ years of experience with AWS infrastructure as a service, + Google infrastructure as a service experience is a plus, + 3+ years of experience with cloud service, infrastructure orchestration, and automation tooling (OMS, AppInsights, Dynatrace, Splunk, Azure Runbooks, CloudFormation, Terraform, Azure Dev/OPS, etc.) + Robust analytical and problem-solving skills. + Strong interpersonal communication skills, collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills, with the ability to demonstrate empathy and a desire to help teammates succeed. Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others and work independently when required, + Initiative to take on responsibilities with minimal prompting or oversight, + Experience engaging with executive and business stakeholders, with the ability to adjust the message to the audience and explain complex concepts in easily understood ways, + Time management with the ability to organize, assess, and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands. Ability to support multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities and adapt to quickly changing business conditions, + Experience in agile, hybrid-agile, and plan-driven software delivery methodologies, system design, integration, and ITSM, + Familiarity with Bitbucket, Git, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Miro, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office tools, + Insurance background is a plus, + Desire to learn. **Education and Qualifications:** + Required Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience + Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree (4-year degree) in technology or equivalent work experience + Required Travel: Up to 10% + Full-Time + Exempt Note: This position reports into Chicago and can be based anywhere in the U.S. or Canada (i.e., remote/virtual).
