Job Overview:

The Strategic Project Manager plays a critical role in leading, managing, executing, and reporting high-impact digital projects. The Strategic Project Manager is a key collaborator with cross-functional business partners within the department and across the organization: Digital and Professional Services, Wholesale Sales team, IT, Branding, Communication and Sales Strategy and Operations. The Strategic Project Manager is accountable for keeping projects on track, driving the team to deliver against project objectives, and reporting against key milestones.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

·       Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders. Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and issues. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.

·       Lead cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

·       Track project performance using appropriate tools and techniques. Analyze project metrics to assess performance and identify areas for improvement.

·       Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation. Create and present detailed project reports and performance evaluations to senior management.

·       Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor project progress and address any issues or changes that arise.

Additional Responsibilities

·       Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize strategic initiatives. Develop detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and budgets.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Certifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.

Experience:

·       Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management, with a focus on strategic projects.

·       Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering complex projects

Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities

·       Strong leadership and team management abilities.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Jira).

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·       Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle shifting priorities.

·       Strategic thinker with a results-oriented approach.

·       High level of initiative and self-motivation.

·       Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

·       Strong organizational and time management skills.

Work Environment:

Remote Role:

·       This position is classified as remote where the associate will perform remote work from their primary residence. Remote associates are welcome to work from the office but are not required to do so. While remote associates are not required to work from an office on a regular basis, they may be required to come to the office or other UNFI locations for necessary business reasons or if directed to do so by their manager.

Travel (minor):

·       This position may require the associate to travel to company offices, distribution centers, or other locations for specific meetings or other business reasons.

·       Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.

·       Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.

·       While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  

·       Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephones, and other office equipment in the course of a normal workday.

·       Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in the completion of job duties.

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements. Sales Positions Only: For sales positions that are commission-based, the above range is an estimate of total potential commission-based compensation during an associate’s first year, but UNFI offers an introductory period minimum of $680 per week. After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI’s commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
