KBRs Estates Intelligence team are a growing team, and following a period of transformation and development are currently strengthening our market position and service offerings. We are looking for a systems manager to oversee a small team of IT professionals responsible for the management and support of our technology platform.
About the Role
The role will report directly to the Estates Intelligence Senior Management Team, and will work closely with a range of internal and client stakeholders to cultivate a team environment that focuses on delivery on behalf of our clients. The role will take responsibility for the day to day management of all technology systems and underlying data warehouse solutions in line with ITIL service operations roles and responsibilities.
The role will require development of close working managerial relationships internally and externally, and there will be opportunities to implement new approaches and ways of working such as formal Agile practices. A key attribute of the role holder will be the ability to effectively manage, communicate technical concepts to non technical audiences, and the ability to prioritise work to best support the team in delivering.
The role would suit someone with a technical operational support background with experience aligning the work and effort of a group to best achieve the desired outcomes. The successful candidate will be capable of bringing teams together, and will have the drive and tenacity to search for new and better ways of working in order to grow and evolve. The role holder will need a good understanding of Agile and ITIL, although formal training can be given. The role holder will need to be capable of envisioning change, bringing those visions to life and having the ability to manage change across a team for the benefit of the wider organisation and our clients.
Responsible for the Projects & Programmes Division (Government Solutions) technical teams, and will:
Report to Estates Intelligence Senior Management Team.
Ensure deployed technical platforms remain functionally and non-functionally viable (accessibility, security, scalability, operability, supportability) and capable of meeting immediate contractual requirements and emerging client strategic needs.
Work with the VIAverse Programme Director to formally receive and subsequently take ownership of new aspects of the platform, new clients, or new projects within our contractual obligations.
Chair, through an appropriate Agile governance process, sprint ceremonies and monitor delivery of team performance against expected story points.
Work with Account Directors and Client Reps to understand, capture, schedule, deliver and support clients’ short/medium range change needs.
Line Management of Technical Practice leads, including but not limited to standard HR functions (leave/absence/timesheet approval management), internal governance, developmental and training plan creation, succession planning/management.
Ownership of IT organisation hierarchy, including ensuring the technical domains are adequately sized, structured resourced and managed to deploy and support the platforms short/medium/long range (scaling up or down).
Support the management oversight of main technical supply chain, including supporting commercials around new requirements, purchase order and invoice management.
Contribute toward bid management to support future growth pipeline.
Contribute toward and support innovation internally (how we work), leading on the ways of working the IT team operate.
Professional Qualifications Required
Essential:
ITILv4 qualification
Desirable:
Degree educated (preferably in a technical discipline).
Recognised Delivery Accreditation (PRINCE2, MSP, Scrum Master).
Recognised platform management / technology accreditation e.g. AWS, CSSP etc.
Full UK driving licence (plus own transport).
Professional Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
Experience and knowledge of PaaS / IaaS and the configuration of SaaS solutions.
Experience of managing technical teams in demanding environments.
Experience working in a highly delivery focused environment.
Experience of creating and chairing effective governance, internal and external.
Broad technical understanding of current software/database technologies, integration methodologies and management information/reporting software (therefore able to understand and manage specialists).
Expert understanding of the ITILv4 processes and best practice ways of working.
Experience establishing and / or delivering within an Agile delivery framework.
Ability to present to all levels of business and technical stakeholders (creation of presentation, delivery of presentation).
Organised and can create/work to a plan, prioritise you own tasks and those of others, self-manage but also work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
Strong communication skills and the ability to understand and deliver internal and external customer outcomes.
Ability to manage people and teams.
Strong team player, used to working in a delivery focused environment, able to meet deadlines.
Extremely proficient in standard MS tool set (including Visio and PowerPoint).
Experience of system administration of Atlassian Jira, and the technical ability to configure to optimal use.
Desirable:
Knowledge and experience of the Public Sector and/or Private Sector FM/Estates Management Industry.
Experience with strategic transitions of older platforms to more modern designed and hosted infrastructure.
Experience of oversight of multi-component system integrated with other organisations.
Knowledge of best practice release management, testing and support processes.
Experience engaging with suppliers to hold them accountable to the service management KPIs we are contractually obligated to deliver against.
The role is Hybrid (agile working practices), with requirement to regularly attend Leatherhead HQ, and occasional travel to Swindon National Service Hub and client sites (typically London)
