The Dim Sum Chef (Lao Asian Cuisine) you will bring creativity, authenticity, and a deep knowledge of traditional and modern Asian culinary techniques. You will create and execute an exceptional variety of dim sum offerings, combining traditional techniques with innovative presentation, to provide our guests with an unforgettable dining experience. This role demands a passion for excellence, attention to detail and a commitment to upholding the highest luxury standards of quality and authenticity.

What will I be doing?

\n

The Dim Sum Chef, contributes to menu creation and the managing and training of the kitchen team to deliver an excellent guest and team member experience while managing food cost controls. Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

You will be responsible to maintain overall Dim Sum section operation and assist the Chef De Cuisine in ensuring maximum guest satisfaction, through planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the Kitchen operation 

\n\nPrepare and cook a variety of Dim Sum dishes with precision and attention to detail ensuring each item reflects authenticity, quality and creativity, aligned with the hotel’s luxury standards.\nCollaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to design seasonal menus, incorporating new techniques and ideas.\nSource and select the finest ingredients, ensuring authenticity and sustainability.\nSupervise and train kitchen staff in dim sum preparation techniques and best practices.\nEnsure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.\nEnsure the highest level of guest satisfaction through exceptional food quality, presentation, and service.\nCollaborate with the Food & Beverage team to tailor experiences for special events and themed dining.\nMonitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies and managing food costs.\nStay current with culinary trends and innovations, particularly in Chinese cuisine and dim sum artistry.\nActively engage with guests during special dining experiences or events, when required, to enhance guest satisfaction.\nDevelop strategies to minimize waste and enhance sustainability in operations.\n

The Dim Sum Chef (Lao Asian Cuisine) serving Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts is always working on behalf of our guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

\n\nAll selected candidates are required to undergo a food trial in our kitchen\nCulinary diploma or equivalent certification is preferred.\nMinimum 3-5 years of experience as a Dim Sum Chef in a high-end Asian restaurants or luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant, or an equivalent setting.\nIn-depth knowledge of traditional dim sum preparation techniques and Chinese cuisine.\nStrong understanding of food trends, guest preferences, and cultural sensitivity in culinary practices.\nStrong creativity and passion for culinary innovation.\nAbility to manage stress in a high-pressure environment.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.\nKeen eye for detail and commitment to quality.\nAbility to work a variety of shifts including weekends, days, afternoons and evenings\nFood hygiene and HACCP certificate.\nPositive attitude.\nExcellent grooming standards\n\n
