Dining Room Attendant
POSITION STANDARDS Possess good communications skills, both oral and written. An understanding of business math concepts and the ability to use them. Gets along well with others while demonstrating flexibility and patience when working as a member of a team. Demonstrate a high level of sensitivity and interest in people, particularly older adults. Must be able to cope with the emotional and physical stress of the position. Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of dining room service techniques, resident relations, plate presentation, sanitation and food handling. Experience with special functions and healthcare operations helpful. Age of Patients Served:

All ages, mostly older adults. POSITION PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Anything listed here requires a pre-employment physical by Employee Health to determine if the employee is capable of meeting the requirements. Physical Activity: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. Upper Extremity: Capable of lifting 35 pounds or more. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Push/Pull/Lift/Carry: Ability to maneuver independently and safely around the kitchens and dining room. Ability to see and hear, or to use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that position requirements can be fully met. Sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and operate kitchen equipment. PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

 

Position Objective The Dining Room Attendant is responsible for creating an enjoyable dining experience for residents and their guests in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, with our establish policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dining Room Manager and/or Director of Food Service, to assure that quality service is provided at all times.

 

Performance Expectation Responsible for preparing the Buffet Tables to support menu making sure that the presentation follows sanitation guidelines and regulations. ie. Desserts wrapped, items that need to be iced. Responsible for preparation of salad (i.e. Cole slaw, etc.) or breakfast items (i.e. pancakes, or French toast) that augment kitchens preparation for lunch, or breakfast. Monitor the dining room environment to give assistance to residents as needed. Assures that the dining room is running efficiently at all times, addresses issues as they arise, and reports them when necessary to the Dining Room Manager and/or Director. Follows established style and order of service while serving in the main dining room and at special functions. Follows all safety and sanitation rules and regulations to promote clean, safe, and neat environment for residents, self, and staff. Maintains excellent relations with residents and close working relationships with dining service and other department staff Assists in the control over all table top and menu needs. Responsible for following weekly and monthly activities calendar, ie. birthdays. Follows rules concerning personal appearance and work performance as set for in the letter of Department Expectations Letter. Demonstrates knowledge of fire safety procedures, and assists with evacuation of residents to a safe location in the event of fire or other emergency. Maintains confidentiality of residents' personal information. Cooperates with staff of other departments in performing job duties. Performs other duties as assigned.
