The Director, Respiratory, Rehabilitation and Diagnostic Services is responsible for the operation of each area of responsibility. This includes financial, human resources, quality, regulatory compliance and leadership of each department.

 

Responsibilities

Performance Responsibilities:
Principal Accountabilities
Occupational Health
 Oversees Respiratory, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, EVS and security services at Seton Medical Center and Seton Medical Center Coastside.
 Ensures the delivery of safe, competent, cost effective, quality patient care by planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating service activities within the framework of the Quality Improvement Program.
 Ensures a safe, efficient, and effective working environment through the on-going development, implementation, maintenance, review, and analysis of work in order to meet the needs of patients, physicians, and staff.
 Develops, evaluates, revises and administers all policies, procedures and standards.
 Demonstrates competency as a clinical manager by planning, organizing and managing the personnel and resources in order to provide the highest quality of care with trained, professional and competent staff in the
most cost-effective and productive manner.
 Gathers, analyzes, evaluates and prepares information needs and trends regarding staffing, procedures, equipment, staff education and training toward the goals of quality improvement.
 Coordinate with physicians’ personnel and other resources to ensure quality service and outcomes.
 Responsible for management and development of clinical staff, functions, activities and case management development and implementation for all patients ensuring comprehensive care with appropriate staffing
levels.

Quality Management
 Assist with development of Performance Improvement Project in each area of responsibility. Assists in the review; analysis of results. Supports action plans developed from analysis.
 Prepares reports for Executives and the Board of Directors as needed.

Fiscal Accountability/Productivity
In collaboration with Managers and Supervisors:

 Analyzes statistics and takes appropriate action as necessary.
 Implements cost containment measures when applicable.
 Implement revenue enhancement ideas.
 Demonstrates effective time management.

Regulatory Compliance
 Monitors compliance with all applicable external agency regulations.
 Ensures compliance with all personnel to safety standards, Hazardous Materials Management program, Standard Precautions and Infection Control.
Human Resource Management
 Demonstrates sound management and leadership principles.
 Promotes associate growth and development through effective use of resources.
 Uses effective interviewing skills to hire qualified and compassionate staff.
 Demonstrates awareness of and ability to apply knowledge of current developments in healthcare.

Operational
 Flexes staffing based on established productivity targets.

 Performs required duties in accordance with prescribed hospital policies and procedures.

 Assesses personal learning needs and utilizes available resources in selfdevelopment including new equipment/products used in performance of job.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:

 Bachelor’s degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:
 Five years clinical experience.
 Two - Three years supervisory experience preferred.

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
 CA RCP, PT, OT or Speech Pathologist license.

 

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 Strong ability to multi-task.
 Computer literate.
