Job Description, Position Summary & Primary Purpose of the Role
This individual will play a critical role in helping to build out the Derivatives Market Intelligence franchise in the Asia-Pacific region with high-impact, data-driven research that enhances Cboe’s reputation as a trusted source of market commentary and analysis.
The research product will include not only the established suite of options and futures product listings, but also support new and recent product launches and developing new client channels. Success in this key aspect of the role will be driven by the individual’s breadth and depth of understanding of volatility products and their market structure, the client base who utilizes these products as investors, and the nuances of each APAC country’s public market ecosystem. The ability to distill themes from data, as well as generate use cases and respond to inbound external and internal customer questions real time are critical. Publishing research reports, preparing client-facing content and presentations, speaking on podcasts and webinars, addressing one-off requests from clients and managements producing content for pubic dissemination and distribution and traveling to visit clients are all requirements for this senior role.
As a high-level individual contributor, this person will have a broad understanding of the company’s strategy. They will leverage various internal resources to execute best-in-class derivatives and cross-asset macro research and analysis which appeals to different investor types in the APAC region. You will have the potential to work on a wide range of investment topics, calibrated for a wide range of investor sophistication levels to help grow interest in our market-leading derivatives products including SPX, VIX, RUT, iBoxx etc.
Reporting to the Global Head of Derivatives Market Intelligence, you will collaborate with a global team to create, design and deliver valuable content to our institutional and retail customers in the APAC region and drive revenue growth for Cboe. The role will require active dialogue and collaboration with sales, coverage, business, and marketing teams. This content is supported by and reactive to measurable KPIs.
Requirements
Domain knowledge in derivatives (volatility products as well as futures, with an understanding of the OTC markets in addition to listed being a plus), global economic drivers, derivatives market structure and content production expertise are required.
A top candidate for the role has expert written and oral communication skills (English required + ideally fluency in another local language), previous experience creating high-impact market commentary, and ability to break down complex topics into easily digestible themes and tailoring the content to what is relevant to each client type. They will proactively identify market trends and provide actionable insights at a variety of sophistication levels and frequency.
Ability to write clearly and present well is critical – previous experience writing derivatives research or market commentary preferredStrong language skills – in addition to excellent English writing skills, the candidate needs to have fluency in at least one local language (Mandarin/Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, etc).In-depth derivatives & macro market knowledge required, trading experience and/or investment analysis a plusStrong analytical skills, as evidenced by gathering information from various sources and then interpreting the data to reach logical conclusions relevant to the derivatives business and its clients8+ years’ professional experience within derivatives markets; 6+ years selling/marketing investment products and writing content
