The Director of Patient Friendly Billing will design and implement the Patient Friendly Billing office for the University of Virginia Medical Center (MC) and the University of Virginia Physicians Group (UPG).The Patient Friendly Billing office will include a patient call center and collect self-pay balances resulting from the implementation of a single patient statement utilizing the Epic Single Business Office technology.The Director will plan organize and direct revenue cycle operations related to patient collections and customer service and be a primary manager supporting patient liability management functions services and their optimal performance in either direct management capacity or as a key stakeholder involved in decision making.Responsible for unit financial accountability as well as activities related to staffing work assignments hiring/termination performance reviews orientation and professional development.Ensures timely accurate and satisfactory resolution of patient financial inquiries and/or disputes while optimizing patient collections in coordination with inter-departmental resources. The Director works in deliberate collaboration and close coordination with UPG and MC Patient Financial Service areas.He/She will be responsible for bringing forward a first class customer experience while also assuring appropriate collection goals are set and executed upon.
Drive successful project completion for the Patient Friendly Billing department by:Directs the patient collection process including the central call center Self Pay management financing options and monthly statements and statement cycles and supports the optimization of all Patient LiabilityManagement functions Directs all patient contact related to financial inquiries including call center operations and dispute resolution pathwaysDirects bad debt referral processes and ensures optimal vendor performance through frequent communication reconciliation and metrics monitoringWorks closely with the Epic project team to ensure successful implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the Patient Friendly Billing Unit Performs other appropriate duties as required in a competent professional and courteous manner including participating in special projects as assignedCompiles the annual budget for PFB and participate in annual budget process.

Position Compensation Range: $102,835.20 - $164,528.00 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree with preference in Business
Administration or Healthcare Administration required; Masters degree must be obtained within 4 years of hire or transfer.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience leading teams of 10 or more and managing and improving Professional and Technical Patient Financial Services groups in complex operating environments. Previous experience implementing Epic’s Single Billing Office model.

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
