Position Summary

The Director of Actuarial Services and Medical Economics partners with the CFO and Finance Leaders of MultiCare Health System to understand and optimize risk-based contracts, value-based contracts and population health strategies throughout the system. The incumbent maintains a deep understanding of the impacts of these strategies on the organization and assists the operational teams in adopting methods to optimize performance under the risk-based and value-based contracts in ways that are consistent with MultiCare’s population health strategies. Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, economics, science or statistics; master’s degree preferred Eight (8) years of progressive healthcare actuarial work Proven hands-on financial, strategic and operational planning, budgeting, decision support, and revenue development Broad based knowledge of health care operations, which may include health systems, hospitals, and medical groups Five (5) years of experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $159,869.00 - $230,048.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
