The Director Finance will strategically drive the conceptualization, implementation, and maintenance of an effective finance organization in the Philippines. Responsible for the expense management, expense booking and record keeping, statutory compliances, planning and execution of budgets and forecasts, banking and cash management, in-country reporting and compliance, and necessary due diligence.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Strategically lead the finance function in Manila overseeing the effective management of all controllership, FP&A and treasury functions, which includes financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, operational accounting, and managing all financial systems and controls.
• Closing books of accounts monthly, as per the month close deadline and preparation / review the account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare monthly reporting to the management - including variance analysis, comparison of budget vs. actual and provide need-based MIS to facilitate timely and accurate decisions.
• Interprets past financial performance, documents financial drivers and assumptions, and prepares observations and forecasts of future performance.
• Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all audits - statutory audit, internal audit, and tax audit for Philippines legal entity, including preparation and finalization of Statutory Financial Statements.
• Actively participate in statutory compliances (including remittances and returns) for the Philippines legal entity on direct and indirect taxes, VAT, and other applicable regulatory requirements impacting the finance function
• Direct FP&A efforts to provide analytical support and explanations on quarterly results, budgets, and forecasts for management discussion and analysis and analyst reports.
• Ensure the preparation of accurate, timely and comprehensive monthly expense reports including comparison to prior periods and budget with detailed analysis of the drivers for variances.
• Actively participate and help various stakeholders in the budgeting exercise.
• Responsible for vouching of payments to vendors, government authorities and for imports.
• Direct and participate in special projects and process re-engineering efforts on periodic basis.
• Partner and guide in the development and maintenance of a system of internal controls that are compliant with ICOFR and SOX requirements.
• Drive timely and accurate management reporting to corporate on a monthly basis.
• Direct timely and accurate completion of day-to-day transaction accounting and reconciliations that drive month end close and reporting.
• Establish key relationships with leadership and effectively partners across the organization, including financial reporting, accounting, tax, treasury, legal, compliance and risk to support their specific needs.
• Directs and oversees day-to-day operations of all banking services, including daily cash positioning, review/processing of payments, and timely resolution of any bank account issues.
• Leads the opening of a commercial bank account with a multi-national bank and implements treasury services to support the needs to the business including payment files and check runs.
• Established and maintains effective relationships with banking partners and ensures bank fees are in line with market.
• As needed, assists with the placement of local insurance policies required for the business by providing data, attestations, or other documentation required to secure coverage.
• Responsible for integrity of the Philippines’ financial statements.
• Attract, retain and lead a team of finance associates as and when needed
• Develops, leads, manages and motivates finance staff


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required. (in Finance, Accounting or related field?)
• 8 to 10+ years of experience required in the areas of accounting, statutory accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, process improvement in a fast-growing startup/Captive environment.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other finance related certification desired.
• Preferred to have worked in Controllership function of MNCs.
• Exposure to IFRS is preferred.
• Expertise in MS office and worked on accounting packages/ ERP like SAP or Oracle.
• Working knowledge of Concur and Ariba is preferred.
• Strong conceptual, problem solving and analytical skills - readily willing to perform hands-on detailed analysis, as needed.
• Inspiring and motivating; results driven; self-motivated; ability to work constructively under pressure; able to work with others at varying levels within the organization.
• Good interpersonal communication skills. Proactive, deadline-conscious, assertive, good team player and self-motivated
• Demonstrated experience building and leading a Finance & Accounting function from the ground up
• Able to tackle start-up tasks while thinking strategically about the future growth of the business
• Fluent in English
