Job Summary

The Interim Director, Emergency Services (ED) is responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of the unit. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, manages resources, and fosters a collaborative environment to support both staff and patient outcomes. The Director oversees all aspects of the ED, including staffing, budgeting, and compliance with healthcare regulations, working closely with hospital leadership to align the unit's goals with organizational priorities.

Essential Functions

Provides leadership and direction for the ED, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with all healthcare regulations.Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures to ensure clinical excellence and operational efficiency.Manages the ED budget, including staffing, equipment, and supply allocation, ensuring cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards.Oversees the recruitment, training, and development of ED staff, promoting a positive work environment and continuous professional development.Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and optimal patient outcomes.Conducts regular assessments of ED operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.Ensures compliance with all relevant state, federal, and accrediting body regulations, including Joint Commission standards.Monitors and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to hospital leadership, implementing improvement initiatives as necessary.Participates in strategic planning for the ED, contributing to long-term growth and development initiatives.Performs other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing requiredMaster's Degree In Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred5-7 years of clinical nursing experience in a Emergency Department setting required3-5 years of experience in a clinical leadership role required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong leadership and management skills with experience in critical careExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and resources.Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and best practices in critical care.Analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.

RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
