ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Risk and Testing is responsible for overseeing the assessment and management of financial crime risks within the Bank, with a primary focus on the design and execution of risk assessments and the management of internal AML testing. This role involves identifying risks across business units, evaluating adherence to AML and other regulations, and providing guidance on effective risk mitigation strategies. This role also includes managing relationships with third-party vendors and ensuring that the Bank’s vendor management processes are adhered to and that our internal processes align to those requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Bank’s AML and OFAC risk assessment framework. Performs periodic risk assessments and evaluates potential exposure to financial crimes related to the Bank’s fintech business. Conduct risk-based assessments of new products, services, business operations, and strategic initiatives. Use data analytics and digital technologies to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced risk management. Oversees and manages the Bank’s AML compliance testing program, ensuring requirements and internal policies through regular testing and assessments. Develops recommendations and alternative solutions for strengthening internal controls through process learning and mapping and implements initiatives with department leads. Act as the point of contact for all requests for information from third-party vendors. Collaborates with Risk, Finance, Legal, and the Operations to onboard and offboard vendors assigned to the FinCrime and Fintech Risk department. Performs due diligence and enhanced due diligence on third-party vendors in the FinCrime and Fintech Risk space to ensure that the Bank’s vendor management requirements are met.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in AML related positions. Experienced understanding of AML program frameworks. Expert knowledge of and experience in executing on AML regulations and risk management practices. Experienced in data analysis, including data collection, cleaning, and interpretation to drive risk analyses.Advanced critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and resilience in a fast-paced, changing work environment by adjusting quickly to new priorities, processes, and business needs. Must have professional poise and presence to interface with other functions, the Board, and regulators. Experience working in banking-as-a-service and/or Fintechs preferred. CAMS certification preferred
