**Job Summary**
The Director of Risk Management is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of risk management programs at our facility, ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of patients, visitors, and staff. This role is key in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks while fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. The Director will work closely with hospital leadership, department heads, and legal counsel to handle risk-related issues, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive patient safety initiatives. Located in the scenic Lower Keys, Florida, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the safety and well-being of a vibrant community in a beautiful setting.
**Essential Functions**
+ Direct and manage the facility’s comprehensive risk management program, evaluating risks associated with patient care and service delivery.
+ Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment and compliance with regulatory standards.
+ Lead patient safety initiatives, including root cause analyses, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other quality improvement efforts.
+ Educate and guide departments on risk management practices, incident reporting, and corrective actions to mitigate risks.
+ Manage claims and litigation processes, coordinating with legal counsel and ensuring detailed and accurate documentation.
+ Develop and present regular reports to administration, the Governing Board, and relevant committees, addressing actual and potential risk issues.
+ Oversee the accurate management and review of occurrence reporting systems, analyzing data to identify trends and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
+ Manage departmental budgets and resources, ensuring fiscal accountability and alignment with the hospital’s mission and objectives.
+ Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Risk Management, or a related field required.
+ Master's Degree preferred.
+ 5-7 years of experience in risk management or patient safety required.
+ 1-3 years of prior leadership experience required.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Extensive knowledge of risk management principles, patient safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risk and develop effective mitigation strategies.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear reporting and presentation to a variety of stakeholders.
+ Proficiency in Google Suite and risk management software applications.
+ Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and manage complex situations with discretion.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure preferred.
