Facility Job Description: DSP

Direct Support Professional

Offer specialized clinical support and opportunities for multiple clients who possess a range of developmental disabilities, significantly challenging behavioral and/or psychiatric issues.

Responsibilities:

Provide a therapeutic environment for the physical, medical, and mental health of clients Develop a clear assessment of the individual’s strengths, and basic needs Intervene in crisis situations to stabilize an individual by utilizing a high level of clinical judgment and effective communication with client’s team Complete daily activity logs, electronic health record documentation, administrative tasks incident/seizure reports, medical/medication logs in a clear and timely manner

Requirements:

High School degree (or equivalent) required At least one year of experience in human services or combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired Valid driver’s License, and use of a personal vehicle

 

Opening #2: Adult DSP- Floater

 

Acute Direct Support Professional – After Hours Floater:

Provide specialized support to clients who possess a range of intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities:

Initiate constructive activities that address goals on a client’s Individual Support Agreement (treatment plan) Facilitate community inclusion, daily living, and skill acquisition Utilization of sound judgement and maintenance of calm demeanor during crisis Provide needed behavioral and/or mental health support Provide needed personal and/or medical care Work with a variety of clients in community and residential settings with a rotating schedule

Requirements:

High School Degree or equivalent Experience in a human services or combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skill has been acquired Enjoy being physically active and have knowledge of Chittenden County resources Skill in de-escalation technique Valid driver’s License, use of a personal vehicle, and an acceptable driving record
