Direct Support Professional - Casual

Overview

Genesee Lake School, a MyPath company, is a nationally recognized employee-owned provider of educational, vocational, and therapeutic residential services.  These programs support adolescents, teenagers and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and complex trauma.  Your work will help them live their best lives, all while carving a career path for yourself as an employee owner at MyPath.

To succeed in this role, you must show an understanding of the emotional and developmental disabilities of the people you serve.  When you join our team, you will be enrolled in our training program designed to build the skills and confidence needed to meet your job requirements and build your career with us.

As a Casual Direct Support Professional, you will:

Ensure safety and security, providing supervision at all times.

Instruct and assist students in carrying out their daily living activities, including self-care management and developing social, communication, and emotional regulation skills.

Assist in the classroom by providing guidance and acting as a role model for students.

Manage behavior of our students.

Demonstrate proactive, appropriate, and effective interactions with students while maintaining self-control during crisis interventions.

Qualifications

At least 21 years old

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's in Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred

Valid WI driver's license with an acceptable driving record meeting company standards

Tolerance, understanding, and patience

Schedule Information

Casual staff work on various groups to fill open shifts as needed. 

Employees who are interested in transferring to this position must have successfully completed their orientation period and must have a satisfactory performance and attendance record.  Once a transfer is approved, there is paperwork that will be required to be filled out and turned in to HR before the transfer is finalized. 

You will be required to fully work out at least a two-week notice before the transfer can occur and the transfer date must coincide with the start of a new pay period.

To maintain casual status eligibility, staff must work at least one shift per month. 

Employees interested in dropping to casual status should take in to consideration how this will affect their benefits.  Also remember - casual employees are not eligible for the student loan paydown program.  Please contact your supervisor or the MyPath Support Services Benefits Department if you have questions regarding your benefits and eligibility.
