Directional Drill Foreman

Position Details

This position is responsible for running a variety of equipment including, horizontal drills, excavators and dump trucks. The individual in this position is required to work at all time with safety in mind.

Responsibilities

Safely operate directional drill rigs

Responsible for overall site and crew safety and must exhibit and uphold Tilson's safety values

Foreman must have the ability to Locate/Operate, trench, place duct, pull cable, and direct bury main-line and drops. Locate & verify all utilities before construction using multiple methods.

A demonstrated working knowledge of telecommunications construction:  familiarity with Horizontal Directional Drills; ability to use cable placement equipment and tools and the ability to identify and troubleshoot problems

Individuals must be able to read prints and have knowledge of the underground process

Manage the build schedule/timeline

Responsible for running a variety of equipment including but not limited to; all types of Directional Drills, (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch) and locators, various types of Trucks, Excavators, Forklifts, Dump trucks, etc.

Serve as single point of contact with company crews, and inspectors

Able to work in all kinds of outdoor working conditions

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Strong work ethic and desire to be a leader

Effective communication skills and a positive attitude

The ability to manage and direct construction crew

Valid US Driver's License with no major violations in last 3 years

Able to work in a fast-paced environment

The ability to work safely, with or without supervision

Ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to directional drills, locating systems, trencher, backhoe, excavators

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 3yrs operating a directional drill (Vermeer and/or Ditch Witch)

Minimum 3 years of leading an underground crew

Minimum 5 years OSP exerience

OSHA 10/30

Experience leading crew members

Class A CDL is a plus

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. 


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson’s driving eligibility requirements.

Tilson leads with integrity around pay transparency; as part of the compensation plan for this position you can expect a pay range of:

$35.00 - $45.00

The range above is associated with a tiered position.  Candidate offers will align with the relevant tier determined by their experience, education, and specialization, as assessed during the interview process.
