We are seeking a highly experienced Director, Advisory and Oversight (1LOD) who will be responsible for providing expert guidance and oversight on Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes. This role ensures the company’s compliance with all applicable regulations and internal policies. This is a unique opportunity to build a high performing team shaping the CDD landscape within the organisation.

The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of regulatory compliance, operational excellence and a proven track record in building a leading team. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust CDD processes, systems and controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with local and international regulations.

What you’ll own

Leadership:

Lead and develop a high performing advisory and oversight team through effective talent acquisition, onboarding and training programmes.Develop and implement performance management frameworks, including clear performance objectives, regular performance reviews and career development plans to build a high performing function.Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that promotes open communication, knowledge sharing and professional growth.Cultivate a customer-centric culture with a strong understanding of risk and an innovative, proactive mindset to balance regulatory objectives and exceptional customer experience.Identify areas of improvement and emerging threats and develop comprehensive training programmes to enhance capabilities and expertise.

Stakeholder Management:

Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and alignment.Collaborate with Compliance, Commercial and Legal to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practice whilst managing operational impact for both tactical and strategic initiatives.Effectively communicate risks, mitigation strategies and regulatory requirements to senior management and wider business teams.Represent the CDD function in internal and external forums, advocating for the importance of CDD and building strong industry relationships.Influence and negotiate with stakeholders to achieve CDD objectives while balancing business needs.

Global Due Diligence and Financial Crime Programme:

Implement a comprehensive quality assurance programme aligned with regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.Act as a Subject Matter Expert for all aspects of CDD, including Onboarding, Enhanced Due Diligence and Ongoing Monitoring and ensure activities align with Worldpay Standards and risk appetite.Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders on regulatory requirements and complex queries.

Continuous Improvement

Promote a continuous improvement culture across the CDD Operations Team to achieve optimal levels of efficiency and productivity.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements, enhance productivity, drive cost-effectiveness, and enhance the customer experience.Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and simplify CDD processes and checks, ensuring efficiency and supporting commercial objectives whilst maintaining regulatory adherence.Stay abreast of evolving regulatory requirements, trends and industry best practices and proactively identify and implement changes to ensure processes remain up to date and effective.

Governance and Oversight:

Establish and implement robust oversight mechanisms to monitor the effectiveness of processes across the function including regular reviews, testing and reporting.Oversee the performance of the quality assurance team ensuring efficient, accurate execution and timely resolution of issues.Maintain oversight of emerging issues or concerns, proactively managing them from identification to resolution.Own the resolution of issues arising from internal and external audits and/or independent reviews, ensuring timely remediation.Produce and analyse management information reports to inform decision making and highlight key trends.Provide regular reports to the Board and other Committees as necessary illustrating the capabilities and outcomes produced by the team, enabling CDD Leadership to set strategic direction and progressive KPIs.Ensure effective management and oversight of the teams’ pipeline and success metrics.

What you bring

Essential

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in regulatory compliance and operational roles with a strong focus on customer due diligence.Extensive knowledge of CDD and financial crime regulations. Strong understanding of AML, KYC, and other regulatory requirements relevant to Customer Due Diligence.Experience in an advisory or oversight role. Proven background in providing guidance on CDD matters, interpreting policies, and ensuring compliance.Experience working with internal teams (e.g. front-line teams, compliance, risk, and senior management) to provide CDD guidance and oversight.A strategic thinker with the ability to identify, mitigate and communicate risks and issues that could impact the organisation and the customer experience.Ability to build a positive culture of continuous improvement and learning, encouraging professional development opportunities and knowledge sharing initiatives.Ability to maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, ensuring effective communication and alignment.

Desirable

Experience in payment services.Experience with Regulatory Bodies including FCA or DNB.Relevant professional qualifications e.g. Diploma in AML or Financial Crime, CAMs certification.Experience using tools such as Orbis, Fenergo, Actimize, Salesforce.
