Director, Alumni Alliance Engagement - Office of Advancement

The current alliances, and those that will follow, greatly enhance the engagement of alumni who may not be inclined or able to engage through their class or local club.

The Director, Alumni Alliance Engagement is a key member of the Georgetown University Alumni Relations team within the Office of Advancement. They are responsible for managing the implementation of an industry-based alumni engagement strategy, supporting multiple industry-based alumni organizations, and helping drive Georgetown’s alumni engagement efforts. This position works closely with volunteer leadership and the University to develop, manage, and build unique programs and resources for the alumni alliance organizations at Georgetown.

By growing engagement with Alliances, the University hopes to: Connect alumni with each other for the purposes of networking, thereby connecting them more closely to Georgetown; Grow the University brand in industries of strategic importance; And grow the mentorship and job/internship/informational resources for students. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

Volunteer Management and Fundraising

Work with leadership groups and the Associate Director of Alliance Engagement to drive each alliance group’s strategy, programs and events.

Provide guidance, governance support, and direction for volunteer organizations.

Liaise with on-campus, Advancement, and Alumni Association centers and departments to ensure the best level of collaboration and engagement of volunteers, major gift prospects, and alumni.

Assist in all activities that are fundraising in nature that are tied to the alliance groups, existing and future from sponsorships, annual giving campaigns and major gift opportunity collaborations with development.

Collaborate with the Associate Director in the development and implementation of the event sponsorship opportunities for all alliance signature events.

Communications

Execute the communication efforts of the alliance groups via email, social media, websites, and e-newsletters.

Develop, share, evaluate, promote, and build out the alliance groups’ social media presence and networking groups within Hoya Gateway, Georgetown’s premier networking platform.

Utilize all existing social media platforms to their fullest potential to magnify the Alliance groups’ presence, impact and showcase of alumni.

Partner with Advancement to leverage the technology (iModules, GU360/Salesforce, Marketing Cloud) and resources for seamless data synergies and optimization of process and resource.

Liaise with internal teams and cross campus partners in order to cross-promote and cross program – Regional Engagement, Alumni Career Services, various Career Centers, Hoya Gateway, Class Programs & Reunion Campaigns, Development & Donor Relations.

Team & Budget Management

Manage the Associate Director of Alumni Alliance Engagement and Programs.

Oversee the management of the alliance budgets (2-4 overall).

Communicate closely with each alliance group to guide them through University policies and procedures, inform them of best practices and help reduce the need to duplicate efforts in terms of the execution of events.

Record all alliance activities, events, biographical updates for alumni in Georgetown’s alumni database of record, GU360 and analyze overall alliance engagement efforts including touch points, membership, and philanthropic support.

Partner with the Senior Director in determining multi-year strategy for alliance groups.

Work Interactions
This position reports to the Senior Director of Alumni Alliance and Affinity Engagement who reports to the Executive Director of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, and serves as a member of the Office of Advancement. This position will manage one (1) FTE, the Associate Director of Alumni Alliance Engagement. This position will work closely with alumni volunteers within specific Alliances/professional interest groups. This position will liaise and interact with the Georgetown University Alumni Association, Georgetown Regional Club volunteer leadership as well as Alumni Career Services and Alumni Relations staff members. Additionally, this position will interact with Development Officers to engage potential prospects and/or inform potential prospects.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

5-7 years’ experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, higher education, nonprofit organization, and/or a related field

Passion for innovative and entrepreneurial thinking with proven success in developing and managing events and programs

Experience with strategy development, idea implementation, and budget management

Experience in managing and partnering with volunteers with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects

Ability to analyze and leverage data for informed decisions along with excellent judgment, problem solving, and decision-making abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communications style for various audiences

Strong organizational skills, with ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

Volunteer management, event planning, and strategic planning skills with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and emotional intelligence

Experience in fields of financial services, VC, technology, entertainment & media, or entrepreneurship is a plus

Experience with effective direct marketing, e-marketing, database development, and co-marketing partnerships, sponsorship development and other current marketing systems preferred

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
