UPHS is committed to establishing strong Academic Partnerships with regional schools of nursing to support improved entry practice transitions into the workforce. UPHS provides clinical practice sites for nursing students in bachelor's (BSN), master's (MSN), and doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree programs. The Corporate Director of Student Placement will support central oversight and management of undergraduate nursing student placements across the health system. The Director is responsible for the central oversight, optimization, and evaluation of clinical placement programs for undergraduate nursing students across UPHS hospitals, ambulatory, and post-acute care sites. The Director role has a concentrated focus on identifying, coordinating, and expanding clinical placement sites, ensuring equitable distribution of students across sites, and maximizing student, academic faculty, and UPHS staff experiences. The Director will partner with local clinical placement leaders across UPHS, Academic Clinical Placement leaders, and the UPHS Office of General Council to facilitate contracts and affiliation agreements. The Director of Student Placement reports to the Corporate Associate Chief Nursing Executive for Professional Development. **Accountabilities** + Clinical Placement Site Identification: Identify and evaluate potential clinical placement sites within the health system that align with regional nursing schools’ needs. Collaborate with hospital units, departments, and clinical placement staff to assess the availability and suitability of clinical placement opportunities. + Coordination with Regional Nursing Schools: In partnership with the Chief Nursing Executive and the ACNO for Professional Development, maintain strong relationships with regional nursing schools to facilitate effective communication and collaboration. Coordinate placement schedules and requirements with nursing school representatives to ensure smooth student transitions. + Expansion of Clinical Placement Opportunities: Proactively seek and create new opportunities for clinical placements within the health system to meet the growing demand for nursing education. Collaborate with hospital leaders to explore innovative approaches to expanding and diversifying placement options. + Equitable Distribution of Students: Develop and implement processes to ensure equitable distribution of nursing students across the six hospitals and their respective units, taking into consideration program requirements and student needs. Monitor and adjust placement assignments to optimize the learning experience for students. + Best Practices Sharing: Collaborate with nursing leaders across the health system to identify and share best practices for managing student rotations, including student onboarding and preceptorships. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing strategies to enhance the quality of the student placement experience. + Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze data related to student placements, including feedback from students, faculty, and clinical preceptors. Prepare regular reports for leadership to assess the effectiveness of student placement strategies and identify areas for improvement. **Minimum Requirements** **Required Education and Experience** + Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required (Master’s is preferred) + 5+ years of experience coordinating clinical placement and/or higher education administrative coordination for clinical programs is required + Experience working at an academic health system is required **Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications** + **PA RN License is required** **Required Skills and Abilities** + **Strong understanding of academic healthcare environments and nursing school curricula.** + **Proven project management abilities.
