The role involves in managing the investment analytics and competitor research within Global Investment Product, Wealth and Asset Management for a specific country region. Lead the production of custom investment product performance compared to market indexes and peers using internal and external data sources to aid decision making on a variety of investment related initiatives. Investment Analysis team covers all investment platforms, including retail, institutional and retirement channels.
Responsibilities:
Be a key member in General Account Emerging Markets (GAEA) Investments team to implement strategy that enhances performance and manages risk. Work closely with functional teams eg finance, ALM and operations.
Keep abreast of emerging markets investment trend, create database for market data, prepare investment committee (IC) materials and contribute to the discussion on formulating market view in the tactical asset allocation process.
Share expertise on emerging capital markets and apply existing knowledge to assess the opportunities in new markets.
Be resourceful in researching new investment topics and explore new markets, well versed in sourcing data online, from Bloomberg and broker research to support investment thesis and articulate investment needs and challenges in different markets.
Monitor portfolio performance, raise any performance issue and identify catalysts that might impact both fixed income an equity portfolios in the insurance context.
Participate in ad hoc projects, setting timeline and coordinate with functional teams to ensure timely delivery.
Chair the investment committee (IC) and participate in asset liability committee (ALCO) to opine on investment related issues
Prepare powerpoint slides for various investment presentations to market the projects that GAEA is responsible for
Assist GAEA Head of Investments for team management eg onboarding new Head of Investment in the country, provide regional support and advice for local team
Ensure the risk limits applicable to the portfolios are properly maintained and monitored to avoid breaches (pre & post trades). If there are breaches, proper actions must be taken immediately for rectification
Having relationship with local market participants in emerging markets will be an advantage.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in finance, business studies or actuarial science required; MBA, CFA designation preferred
10+ years progressive experience in investment management and advisory
Strong analytical and project management skills
Excellent PC skills; especially with Microsoft Excel (knowledge of advanced formulas, pivots, macro/ VBA, python knowledge is a plus), Power Point and Word, Team, Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote and Bloomberg.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work productively with multiple parties at varying levels in the global organization, local language skill in one of the emerging markets will be an advantage
Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty and a culturally diverse team
A discipline self-starter that can work steadfastly, flexibly and efficiently, multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment in remote and team setting
