The Opportunity
Reporting to AVP, Operational Risk Management (ORM), Asia, this position will support the Asia Risk Management on various key regional operational risk programs such as embedding operational resilience framework, ensuring robust governance, and promoting a risk aware culture and increasing risk awareness through educational initiatives.
In this role, the person will lead and manage multiple stakeholders across the functions and Markets in the region and act as subject matter expert to provide guidance and support in implementing the operational resilience program in Asia.
Position Responsibilities:
Influence and closely collaborate with key stakeholders across the functions in local Markets and regional level to lead the implementation and ongoing management of the operational resilience program in Asia
Support business units to identify critical business services, setting of impact tolerances, mapping of underlying assets including interconnections and interdependencies, facilitating severe but plausible scenario testing and vulnerability management of the critical business operations
Support the development and maintenance of the Global Operational Resilience Framework, including policies and procedures, operating model as well as program plans
Ensure operational resilience principles and practices are understood and applied across businesses in Asia. Educate and train business units and regional functions on operational resilience best practices and strategies
Support the development of solutions for strategic changes required for resilience and opportunities for efficiencies across related risk management programs
Develop robust communication channels between local Market level, Regional and Global stakeholders, ensuring transparency, collaboration, and alignment of ORM priorities with business objectives
Ensure robust risk governance and embed appropriate risk and controls across various ORM program activities in Asia
Plan and lead periodic quality assurance reviews to evaluate the effectiveness of governance and risk management activities at local Market level, as well as compliance to Global Policies and Standards. Identify gaps and opportunities to uplift risk maturity
Offer innovative ideas and help increase the efficiency of business processes and risk management activities
Assist sharing of key learnings, including incidents/ issues learning, risk management/ control best practices across Asia
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in financial services industry or/ and management consulting experience required
Hands-on experience in implementing operational resilience programs at other financial institutions
Experience with recovery strategy and requirements, risk assessments, business impact analyses, testing, crisis and incident response management
Knowledge of international operational resilience regulatory requirements for the financial services industry and insurance operations flow is a plus
Highly developed business acumen, and pragmatic approach to solving problems and implementing solutions and a willingness to challenge the status quo
Exceptional communication skills, comfortable in providing presentations and conducting facilitation sessions to different audience groups. Ability to articulate complex issues to a diverse audience
High proficiency in visualization and presentation of concepts and insights to enable key decisions
Strong influencing skills, creative problem solving and ability to drive significant change in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment
Strong stakeholder and relationship building skills to maintain effective working relationships with business units, various Regional functions, Group office and external parties. Comfortable working with all levels of management
Leadership required to influence and guide local teams to achieve deadlines and to overcome/resolve unforeseen challenges
Maintain a strong sense of compliance, control, and risk awareness
Comfortable with occasional international business travel
