Director, Business Development

Ibotta is seeking a Director, Business Development to join our innovative team and contribute to our mission to Make Every Purchase Rewarding.

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to be at the forefront of establishing new partnerships to support the growth in the Ibotta Performance Network (IPN).  The IPN is the largest promotions network in the country and includes Ibotta’s leading direct-to-consumer proposition (the Ibotta app) as well as a number of third-party retailers such as Walmart, Instacart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and more, that leverage Ibotta’s technology and access to brand promotions budgets. The IPN is growing rapidly, and was a primary component in Ibotta’s going public on the NYSE in April 2024. This role will contribute meaningfully and be at the center of Ibotta’s growth engine.     

This position is located in Denver, Colorado as a hybrid position requiring 3 days in office (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). Candidates must live in the United States.

What you will be doing:

Establish net-new relationships with partners that will support the growth of the IPN. Define the GTM, strategy, and drive the business forward with proactive and thoughtful client engagements

Manage full-funnel of putting partnerships in place, inclusive of market research, prospecting, outreach, pitching, negotiating, and integrating into our platform

Own the entire business development process, gaining leadership buy-in, selling and negotiating partnerships, launching new pilots, and evolving those partnerships based on data-driven results

Build and deliver thoughtful and innovative presentations to prospective partners that showcase the value proposition of working with Ibotta and joining the Ibotta Performance Network

Sell in and negotiate a multitude of complex key deal terms, all while balancing the needs of various internal and external stakeholder teams

Grow, maintain and leverage your network. Attend conferences, trade shows, and industry events to build relationships, close deals and maintain expertise in our industry

Use innovation, creativity, process, and entrepreneurialism in every interaction you have, both externally and internally

Ensure that sales tactics align with the values, goals, and resources of the business

Travel up to 30%

What we are looking for: 

6-8 years of national B2B business development experience working with large partners

Preference for candidates with experience in grocery/CPG, specialty retail, marketing/media, fintech, promotions, or for those with experience at similarly sized growth-stage technology companies 

Bachelor's Degree preferred

Technical Skills: G Suite, Excel, Microsoft Suite

Demonstrated track record of new business success, including ability to pivot and problem solve during a complex BD/partnership process

Proven ability to sell into high-level leadership (including C-level) and to navigate potential customer organizations to connect with the business owner/decision maker

Brilliant communication skills, both written and oral. Great presenter (candidates must do a mock pitch as part of the hiring process)

Expert negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to close the deal

Flexibility, accountability, adaptability, resourcefulness, and ability to work with little direction in a fast-paced startup environment

Ability to think and act like an entrepreneur and to use creative thinking to deliver value to your stakeholders

Great analytical skills with an innate compulsion to measure the results of your work

Additional Details:

This position is located in Denver, CO and includes competitive pay, flexible time off, benefits package (including medical, dental, vision), Lifestyle Spending Account, Employee Stock Purchase Program, and 401k match. Denver office perks include paid parking, bagel Thursdays, snacks and occasional meals.

Base compensation range: $117,600-$130,900. Equity is included in overall compensation package. This compensation range is specific to the United States labor market and may be adjusted based on actual experience. Total compensation for this role also includes a variable component in addition to base salary.
