What You'll Be Doing

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC serves corporate, government, and institutional clients with innovative solutions and value-added services. From actionable ideas to highly tailored financing solutions, M&A advice, and a strong lineup of capital markets and treasury services, CIBC Capital Markets teams can provide the capabilities that clients need to help capitalize on opportunities and manage risk.

As a Director, Business Management, Global Corporate Banking, you’ll provide business management support to Global Corporate Banking and Global Transaction Banking. In this position you’ll act as a liaison between the businesses (front office) and the rest of the Bank to ensure all business strategies, initiatives, projects, operational issues are addressed and resolved.

How You’ll Succeed

Strategic & Business Planning: You’ll play a vital role in supporting and contributing to the strategic and business planning efforts for the Head of Global Capital Markets (GCB) and the Head of Global Transaction Banking (GTB). Your responsibilities will include partnering with various infrastructure groups to effectively implement and execute strategic and business plans, as well as project managing new initiatives, such as Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs). Additionally, you’ll collaborate with other Business Managers and Finance Business Support to develop key presentations for senior management, town halls, and onsite/offsite conferences, along with any ad-hoc presentations that may arise. Strong interpersonal and communication skills will be essential as you work closely with the business and senior management on a daily basis.

Governance & Compliance: You’ll oversee governance and compliance functions for the Global Capital Markets (GCB) and Global Transaction Banking (GTB) businesses. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs) related to new initiatives and supporting the execution of new contracts and agreements with vendors and partners in collaboration with Corporate Services, Legal, and other internal stakeholders. You will manage and oversee audits, coordinating responses to auditor and regulator requests, findings, and reports.  Furthermore, you will support supervision and controls on compliance and regulatory issues as needed and develop improvements to internal procedures and practices, ensuring that effective and documented internal controls are established and evidenced by relevant policies and procedures. Additionally, as the Senior Records Officer, you’ll also oversee records management processes and ensure the accuracy and completion of all GCB and GTB Policy & Procedure documents.

Finance/Management Information Systems: You’ll collaborate with various business units, Business Managers, and Finance Business Support to develop essential presentations, including Management and Board Presentations and others as needed. You’ll also be responsible for creating the Quarterly Operational Risk Dashboard and conducting related analyses to provide insights into operational risks.

Stakeholder Management: You’ll establish and maintain effective relationships with various partners across CIBC, including Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and other corporate governance groups, to address and resolve day-to-day issues while supporting the delivery of business initiatives. Additionally, you’ll engage in regular dialogue with regional business managers and their teams to discuss global initiatives and pertinent issues, ensuring alignment and collaboration across the organization.

Who You Are

You have a degree in Business Management/accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA. CFA, MBA) is preferred.

You can demonstrate 5-7 years of experience in Capital Markets and have strong knowledge of Financial Products (products and processes), in particular Global Corporate Banking; Project management skills would be an asset.
