Schwab is building out a Transformation Management Office (TMO) to accelerate large, cross-enterprise transformation across the firm. This organization partners closely with teams across Schwab to support all facets of transformation, from identifying and prioritizing opportunities, to implementing and executing transformation programs, to evolving skillsets and mindsets.

The TMO is seeking a Director of Business Transformation with three key mandates. First, the Director of Business Transformation will develop cross enterprise strategic perspectives on an as-needed basis to create a common fact base across partners to progress strategic priorities. Second, the Director of Business Transformation will lead one or more transformation initiatives in partnership with teams across the firm focused on cross-functional capabilities that drive greater scale and efficiency while improving the client experience. Third, as a member of a newly forming team, the Director of Business Transformation will help shape the culture of the TMO team and how we work. Please note: This is an individual contributor position and has no direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with TMO team members and key stakeholders to drive transformation efforts from beginning to end (e.g., defining strategy, designing plans, and facilitating handoffs)Develop a deep, thoughtful understanding of each business area we are supportingLead transformation strategy, planning, and roadmapping efforts, including quickly activating stakeholders and initiating bodies of workDevelop strategic perspectives on a variety of transformation special topics to create a common understanding across business partners and inform business plansSupport implementation and execution of transformation work, which includes adapting plans as needed and proactively managing risks and issuesFoster strong relationships with stakeholders, amplify engagement, and ensure needs are met throughout the transformation efforts (e.g., ensuring alignment with the vision, sustaining a sense of excitement and enthusiasm, ensuring field readiness, etc.)Work closely with other TMO leaders and team members to ensure alignment and coordination across related initiativesContribute to the culture of the team and how we work; help to establish team norms and processesSupport the broader portfolio of TMO initiatives by providing surge support where neededHelp strengthen Schwab’s overall “transformation muscle” by regularly contributing to transformation best practices and supporting broader Transformation communications

To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of work experience, including at least 5 years of working in roles related to transformation, such as strategy, consulting, or program management Ability to develop high-level strategies and translate into actionable plans while aligning diverse teamsAbility to build strong relationships and influence senior leaders, peers, and teams across different functionsExperience developing and implementing transformation strategies, plans, and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision and goalsAbility to craft compelling narratives for senior executives and diverse audiencesStrong executive presence, including demonstrated oral, written, and visual communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

Strong preference towards financial services experience

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities
