Director, Capital Projects Engineering Construction
A client in Houston is hiring a permanent Managing Director, for Capital Projects Engineering and Construction. The ideal candidate is an Engineer by degree, and has previously supported a wide range of mulit-million dollar construction projects and maintained a diverse portfolio. Daily responsibilities will include: establishing priorities and advising internal and external business partners and customers on project and construction management strategies and resolution as needed. Ability to negotiate, mediate, manage complex projects, construction and professional service contracts. The Managing Director leads, develops, and mentors the Project and Construction Management (PCM) team to deliver capital assets ahead of demand, collaborating with port planning, operations, environmental, technology, customer service, and security. Strategically acts as both a business and technical leader to implement innovative solutions to achieve overall organizational goals. Acts as key interface with internal and external stakeholders with respect to projects. Oversees and guides team participation in procurement processes including reviewing bids, proposals and others statements of qualifications, evaluating suppliers for award and presenting results to Executive Management. Reviews work of Project Managers (PM), outside engineering consultants, and contractors for compliance with the scope, time, and price (STP) of all Port Houston capital improvement and maintenance projects along with special studies, master plans, and other technical assignments. This position works a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off, working hybrid, in office Tuesday - Thursday.
