General Summary
Under executive direction, this position is responsible for directing, managing and coordinating the UM BWMC Clinical Education and Development Department (CED). Primary responsibilities include; overseeing the planning, design, and presentation of educational and experiential learning opportunities. Conducting a needs assessment of Nursing’s clinical and professional education and training. Participating in all Nursing leadership activities and serving as the Executive Sponsor for the Professional Advancement Model, the Nurse Residency Program, NSP I & II grants. Responsible for student affiliation process and serves as executive sponsor to Professional Development Council.

Reports to Senior Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer.

QualificationsQualifications
Master’s degree required. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or a Bachelors in Nursing and a Masters in Education. Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Five (5) years of progressive management experience is required with three (3) years in middle management or adult education teaching position is also required.
Membership and participation in professional association(s) is recommended.
Working Conditions
Works inside, in a clean well-lighted environment. May be exposed to frequent interruptions and changing priorities. Expected to participate in weekend rounds. Potential for minimal exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials. This position is classified as low or no exposure risk and does not require the completion of an annual testing, but may require "just in time" testing if the need arises.
Physical Requirements
Standing and walking much of the time on duty. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Reaching for, fingering, grasping and handling equipment and supplies. Talking and hearing to converse with staff, health care consumers, and physicians. Near visual acuity to read computer charts, other documents and various equipment.
