Position Summary:
The Radiology Clinical Director is responsible for the administrative, clinical and technical direction in more than one modality and location. The Radiology Clinical Director will provide coordination of the clinical, technical, administrative activities, and personnel in the assigned imaging modalities. Administers financial, physical, and human resources to provide medical imaging services at UNM Hospitals. Monitors the operations to assure compliance with governmental and other regulations and meets standards established by accrediting agencies and others. Ensure adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.

Detailed responsibilities:
* SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* LIAISON - Act as liaison between patient, family, physician, clinician, and staff
* PATIENT CARE - Ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with quality standards; ensure documentation of patient care activities
* EDUCATION - Plan and assist in patient teaching; provide and coordinate orientation and clinical learning experience for staff and students
* BENCHMARKS - Establish and maintain data collection and monitor results for recurring reports. Develop reports and track compliance records
* QUALITY - Develop, modify and oversee quality control program. Administer quality assurance for assigned area. Maintain data on image repeat counts and inadequate/incomplete exams. Monitor data and reports required for State and National Radiology Standards
* BUDGET - Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures
* MANAGE - Manage, coordinate and oversee technical and clinical activities and operations; identify and correct technical and clinical deficiencies
* STANDARDS - Establish specific standards and objectives for clinical departments; ensure implementation of and compliance with standards, objectives and operating policies and procedures
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
* COMMITTEES AND MEETINGS - Attend clinical, technical and administrative meetings; participate in committee functions; participate in hospital-wide activities and committees within the scope of this position or as directed

* ARRT (R) or NMTCB (CNMT) or ARDMS or RN
Nonessential:
* ARRT R w/ 1 advanced cert in a modality, or ARDMS, or NMTCB

Physical Conditions:
Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
