Director, Compliance

Job Summary

The Compliance Director will take a senior role in the compliance team, assisting with maintenance of the compliance program and related policies with a focus on the United States business. Promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical principles consistent with Company policies and goals as well as those required by relevant law.    

This position will report to the VP, Compliance & Data Privacy and work closely with members of the Legal and Compliance team to execute the overall compliance program worldwide with emphasis on US healthcare compliance. This is an onsite position at our Irvine, CA. office

Duties & Responsibilities

Assists with the administration of the global compliance program Develops relevant policies and other guidance documents to assist the business to best understand company expectations around ethics and compliance. Participates in the maintenance of the due diligence on third parties process with a focus on medium and high risk third parties. Assists with conducting interviews, preparing investigation reports, and maintaining investigation records.  Leads efforts to communicate compliance policies and plans designed specifically to promote understanding of compliance issues, laws and regulations, as well as the consequences of non-compliance.  Prepares and provides training and education to Company employees and others as necessary. Works with legal counsel in connection with compliance activities.  Works with international compliance liaisons to operationalize the compliance program. Issues accurate and timely advice to business stakeholders. Prepares and presents periodic reports regarding compliance including the activities undertaken and the activities planned in order to ensure compliance.  Stays up to date on the latest compliance and anti-corruption trends including changes in laws and regulations and recent enforcement activities by relevant government authorities. Contributes to continuous monitoring, review and improvement of the compliance program. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

8+ years of relevant compliance function experience, preferably in the life sciences or pharma industries preferred.  Have strong knowledge and experience of U.S. compliance laws and regulations, such as AKS, FCA, and the FCPA Detailed working knowledge and experience with global compliance program development and maintenance  Experience developing compliance training and awareness programs. Expertise in conducting internal and external confidential investigation in the US and globally in other countries, across a wide range of issues, including fraud, anti-corruption, conflicts of interest. Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills (ability to effectively work with and communicate, both orally and in writing, across all functions and regions). Willingness to travel – domestic and international (up to 20%). Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. Flexible, open-minded, willingness to learn and to try new approaches. Efficient worker with robust productivity and output, prioritizes getting things done and is solutions oriented. Strong interpersonal skills, always keeping the internal customer in mind – ability to thoughtfully balance compliance risk with business needs.  

Preferred Qualifications

Data analytics and/or behavioral science experience a plus Innovative and creative mindset Ability to completely maintain confidentiality and discretion in business relationships and exercise sound business judgment. Strong attention to detail.  Advanced skills with MS Office Suite (in particular Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education:

Bachelors degree preferred in Sciences,  JD also preferred

Compensation: The anticipated salary range for this position is $180,000 to $200,000.  Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing and walking.  Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required.  May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities.
