How you will make an impact:

The Consolidation Accounting team within Corporate Financial Reporting owns the financial consolidation process. If you are passionate about running an effective and efficient financial consolidation process in a complex, multinational setting, then Thermo Fisher's consolidation accounting team is the right place for you. As the Director of Consolidation Accounting, reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, you will collaborate with Technical Accounting, External Reporting, M&A Accounting, FP&A, Tax, and Legal teams to lead the monthly corporate-level consolidation processes, focusing on practical process improvements.

What you will do:

Provide front-line customer support for all Thermo Fisher consolidation reporting tools, including HFM, ESSBase, and FDMEE, while also providing support for a large global end-user communityManage and facilitate the Company’s financial close process, ensuring a timely and complete roll up of data in the systemsManage and verify completeness and accuracy of system eliminations for intercompany balance sheet and income statement activityReview the system CTA (cumulative translation adjustment) calculationAssist in the development of the overall Finance Systems roadmapBe the primary point of contact for consolidation accounting matters, both with internal stakeholders as well as external auditorsReact to and triage time-sensitive close issues via troubleshooting and problem-solving

Expertise with complex integrated financial reporting systems, inclusive of HFM, ESSbase and FDMEEKnowledge of financial consolidation, eliminations, reporting for monthly and quarterly closes, general ledgers, hierarchies and data structuresDirect management of governance and finance system compliance in accordance with company policies, standards and SOX requirementsApplies knowledge and understanding of financial and US GAAP accounting principles to systems and business processesAbility to interact and partner with all levels of management to help drive collaborative business decisionsPossesses interpersonal and organizational skillsHigh energy level; strong work ethicAble to anticipate change and respond to client priorities, demonstrating a “can do” attitudeExcellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to succinctly convey relevant information across multiple levels of the organizationConfidently project a professional image that champions relationship building and collaborationParticipates in the strategic business planning with business units and IT to formulate enhancement options to address specific functional issues / requirementsProactively identifies and troubleshoots issues (data or process) and take appropriate action to resolve

Education and Experience 

Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Business, or a related fieldGraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration and/or Information Systems or a related field (e.g., MAC, MBA or MIS) preferred7+ years experience in finance or accounting with a large, complex, multinational organization
