Director, Content Platforms - Reuters

We are seeking a visionary product manager at the intersection of technology and content management to join our product team as Director of Content Platforms. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital content management and distribution for Reuters and the broader global news media ecosystem.

About the Role:

As the Director of Content Platforms, you will head the strategic development and operational execution of our advanced Content Platform. This platform is the single source of truth for all content across Reuters; content versioning, content enrichment, content distribution and content metadata, including custom taxonomies, lineage, and provenance. Our content platform will enable robust search capabilities and content enrichment services, leveraging AI and machine learning to enhance our content offerings. Your leadership will ensure that Reuters remains at the forefront of digital innovation, meeting the complex needs of a global audience and adhering to stringent compliance and legal standards.

As our Director of Content Platforms, you will:

Vision and Strategy: Craft and communicate a clear vision and strategic plan for the Content Platform, aligning with business goals and technological advancements.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Work closely with stakeholders across departments—including technology, product, finance, sales, marketing, and editorial—to gather insights and align platform capabilities with business needs.

Roadmap Development and Execution: Create and maintain a dynamic roadmap that prioritizes features and enhancements based on business impact and technical feasibility, as well as evolving content needs across the business, including the evolution of AI based content enrichment.

Platform Optimization and Innovation: Continuously evaluate and optimize the platform for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Explore and integrate cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to keep the platform state-of-the-art.

Content Distribution: Oversee the strategic development and enhancement of content distribution platforms, including APIs and cloud delivery systems, ensuring robust, scalable solutions that meet both current and future business needs.

Technology Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance in the integration and efficient operation of content distribution technologies such as Reuters API, Content Engine, and associated content download and push delivery platforms, ensuring high reliability and performance.

Team Development: Lead, mentor, and expand the build team. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

Performance Measurement: Define success metrics and KPIs to evaluate the impact of the Content Platform on business objectives. Use data-driven insights to refine platform strategies and deliver measurable business value.

Simplification: Work closely with technology partners to identify and deliver on opportunities for simplification and cost efficiency across Reuters

About You:

To be our Director of Content Platforms, you will likely have:

Significant experience in technical product management, particularly in content-centric platforms. Familiarity with digital asset management solutions is highly desirable.

Deep understanding of API integration, cloud services, data architecture, and modern development frameworks. Ability to oversee complex technical projects and make informed decisions.

Excellent ability to conceptualize long-term business strategies and translate them into actionable plans.

Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical and business concepts to diverse audiences. Proficient in stakeholder management.

Platform and Product Lifecycle management expertise

Be able to bridge technical and business conversations to translate complex concepts into clear business terms for senior stakeholders

Be proficient in building business cases that support decision making

Be able to motivate and drive virtual, multi-cultural teams to successful delivery and resolve conflicts

Have expertise in using data and analytics to set key success metrics and monitor product performance

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $177,380 - $329,420.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
