Director, Corporate Compliance

As a member of the Corporate Compliance leadership team, the Director of Corporate Compliance participates in building and implementing a compliance strategy that ensures our company has the tools and resources necessary to navigate compliance responsibilities effectively. The position oversees staff members responsible for developing and implementing compliance programs and initiatives. This role ensures the company adheres to compliance standards and company policies, fostering a culture of ethics, integrity, and compliance.

 

Onsite Locations: Glenmont, NY, Springfield, MO and League City, TX

 

What You'll Do:

Corporate Compliance Department Data and Reporting: Manages the department’s compliance data and reporting function ensuring timely, accurate and thorough data and reporting is produced and effectively communicated to business leaders, senior management, and board. Conduct and Ethics: Manage the company’s conduct and ethics program by facilitating the company’s senior compliance committee, handling escalated inquiries, ensuring compliance training and education programs are effectively designed and administered to employees, agents, and other stakeholders. Oversight for Compliance Programs: Design, implement and oversee comprehensive compliance programs to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements and company policies. Key programs include Sanction Programs (AML/OFAC), Annuity Suitability, HR Compliance, Corporate Policy Administration, and Records Retention. Present compliance updates to senior management for programs under your leadership and partner with them to ensure programs are effectively performed within their business units. Testing, Monitoring, and Remediation: Regularly test and monitor the programs under your leadership for compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies. As a member of the Corporate Compliance leadership team, ensure business areas have the tools, resources and support needed to mitigate risks and implement necessary controls in their areas.

 

Other Responsibilities:  

Staff Management: Direct teams, including managers and compliance analysts (exempt and non-exempt). Demonstrate excellent leadership behaviors and perform management responsibilities, including performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, performance counseling, and other personnel actions within the assigned area. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Legal, HR, Internal Audit, and Enterprise Risk Management, to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance and risk management. Stay Informed: Keep abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices. Ensure compliance programs under your leadership are up-to-date and effective. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. 10 to 12 years of experience. Five to 10 years of supervisory/management experience. Additional Skills/Qualifications: Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership and management abilities. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High ethical standards and integrity.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: Experience in insurance, compliance, or both, with at least 5 years in a leadership position preferred. Certifications: Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Associate in Regulatory Compliance (ARC), or similar certification is desirable.

 

 

 

Salary for this position can range from $105475.50 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $158203.50 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
