Director, Corporate Development
**About this role** BlackRock’s Corporate Strategy and Development Group is responsible for supporting the firm in positioning BlackRock to generate robust, long-term growth and shareholder value creation through formulating and executing enterprise-level vision and strategy, facilitating business level strategies and driving large multi-functional, cross border assignments and initiatives for the firm. The team is also responsible for sourcing, assessing and executing partnerships, investments, acquisitions, and divestitures based on BlackRock's strategic priorities. Corporate Development Director will report to the APAC Chief Operating Officer (COO) and BlackRock’s Global Head of Corporate Development, to lead the inorganic strategy in support of the firm’s long term growth priorities. This role is based in Hong Kong and will focus on the firm’s regional corporate strategy and development efforts, in collaboration with APAC regional executives, business units and Corporate Strategy. **Primary responsibilities:** + Act as a trusted advisor and partner to regional senior management and business unit leaders to determine strategic objectives and identify inorganic opportunities to meet these goals including (but not limited to); market entry strategies, growth acceleration and assessing strategic minority investments + Lead proactiveoutreach to investment banking, private equity, venture capital, asset management, and financial technology networks across the region + Drive the evaluation and analysis of inorganic opportunities across the asset management and financial technology industries regionally + Lead the negotiation of transaction terms and structure + Lead due diligence and transaction process in partnership with cross-functional teams within the firm, including business stakeholders, Finance, HR, Operations and Legal/Compliance + Build financial models to assess synergy capture, returns on invested capital, pro forma impact to BlackRock’s P&L, and shareholder value creation analysis + Communicate strategic priorities and execution plans across the firm via presentations, meetings, written communications, etc. + Serve as a team leader through active recruiting and managing of talent including, motivating, coaching, training, and mentoring team members **An ideal candidate will demonstrate:** + A passionate interest in financial markets and the asset management industry + A desire to work in a high-energy environment with a dedicated commitment to excellence + An ability to work as a team player, accept substantial individual responsibility, and proactively create value for the team **Qualifications:** + 10+ years relevant work experience; financial services, investment banking, consulting or strategy background; knowledge of APAC asset management landscape preferred + Experience with leading, structuring, negotiating, closing, and integrating M&A transactions with an ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands + Demonstrated strong project management skills, with experience leading large, high impact, cross-functional assignments + Excellent problem-solving skills, both conceptual and analytical; strong communication skills and extremely high attention to detail + Track record of identifying opportunities, building strategies, and driving change through creativity, relationship building and focused execution + Self-reliant, ambitious and proactive; able to show initiative and come up with ideas without prompting and operate credibly with senior stakeholders across multiple markets + Ability to concurrently manage multiple complex projects and activities, while working under pressure and with tight deadlines; strongly values being a team player + Knowledge of and exposure to the full range of BlackRock’s activities preferred (not required): retail distribution, institutional distribution, ETFs, wealth management, marketing, alternatives, technology, portfolio management and capital markets, and trading **Development value:** + Unparalleled exposure to senior leadership of BlackRock at the regional and global level + Strong track record of people migrating from Corporate Strategy and Development into elevated roles within a business **Our benefits** To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of benefits including a strong retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive healthcare, support for working parents and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about. **Our hybrid work model** BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all.
