Job Description
 

Gilead Sciences is looking to hire a full-time Director for its Corporate Development team to lead strategic partnerships across oncology, virology and inflammation. The candidate will report to the Executive Director of Corporate Development, and be part of the core Corporate Development team.

Responsibilities

· Oversee and lead execution of corporate development opportunities involving strategic partnerships, investments, licensing, and/or acquisitions.

· Partner with key stakeholders across therapeutic areas, including research clinical, commercial, finance and program strategy leadership to develop business proposals that align with Gilead’s mission and growth strategy

· Develop and maintenance of strong external relationships with potential partners

· Coordinate diligence efforts and scientific reviews for identified opportunities; review opportunities and business cases with Gilead management

· Lead negotiations of term sheets and contracts with identified partners

· Oversee junior members of the corporate development team who will provide support on key transactions

Desirable Skill Sets

· Strong knowledge of drug development and biotech/pharma industry

· Experience leading transactions and strong familiarity with negotiations and the contracting process

· Aptitude for quantitative analysis such as forecasting and valuation work

· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required

· Experience leading cross-functional teams and presenting business cases to executive management

· Passion for science and therapeutic clinical development

QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum education and years of relevant experience, including experience in biotech/pharma sector and/or professional services (e.g. consulting, finance, legal, and/or corporate experience in a relevant function)

o B.S./B.A. with 12 or more years of experience

o M.B.A./Masters with 10 or more years of experience

o PhD with 8 years of transaction specific experience and industry knowledge


 

The salary range for this position is: $226,185.00 - $292,710.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
