Director, Corporate Engineering The Director, Corporate Engineering is responsible for leading the Corporate Engineering team to develop and implement new technologies, processes and equipment strategies to achieve organizational objectives. This key position will have direct ownership for established goals around large growth and maintenance capital projects, downtime minimization, engineering aspects of process safety management, cost savings initiatives and ensuring overall quality. \n

This role and the Corporate Engineering department are new to the organization and will have the opportunity to help establish engineering practices across the Company. This role will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer. \n
\n

Essential Functions & Requirements: \n\nPrioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times\nLeads and mentors the cross-functional engineering team to develop best practices in identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving all types of processes or production issues \nDemonstrates, teaches, and applies principles of engineering and technical problem-solving \nDevelops and implements methods, processes, and procedures that will improve existing practices, eliminate failures and reduce operating costs \nIdentifies best practices and applies those to other facilities with the goal towards standardization, cost savings, uptime improvement and a preventative maintenance approach\nPartners with other departments to ensure that engineering objectives and daily activities are supporting the organization's needs\nDevelops and communicates strategies goals aligned with company objectives and translates those into specific performance targets, action plans and associated metrics \nMaintains accountability for achieving objectives established for the engineering team and the organization, as well as determining and controlling departmental resource requirements and budgets\nProvides leadership for process and equipment cost analysis that contributes to improved performance and establishes targets for, and projects to support, annual cost saving initiatives\nAssists with the automation of current processes to control costs, drive consistency and meet demand \nParticipates in technical problem-solving for customers and suppliers as circumstances require\nOwns our Enterprise Risk plan and ensures that appropriate lines of defense are in place at all of our facilities\nOwns the yearly capital plan for the Company and ensures that resourcing is available to complete all projects in a timely manner\nEnsures projects driven through our Full Potential Plan are prioritized and resourced \nOwns project management for large capital expenditure engineering projects and ensures they meet established goals including time, quality, cost and profitability targets \nProvides engineering expertise in the areas of tooling, prints, product specifications, product maintenance, raw materials and outside purchases throughout the organization \nSupport Company's relationships with regulatory agencies as well as engineering aspects of permitting to allow for efficient approvals; develops and ensures that repair engineering data is in compliance with corporate and regulatory policies \nCoordinates with other members of the management team and keeps them informed of project status and performance versus budget and schedule \nReviews state-of-the-art engineering developments and makes recommendations to the management team on cost-effective additions and \/ or modifications to meet department and corporate goals \nCompletes all technical tasks in line with customer and corporate expectations, budgets, and schedules; reviews and approves proposals, recommends and implements cost-saving or time-saving changes \nParticipates in acquisition due diligence as required\nManages technical vendors and consultants to ensure contractual alignment, quality, timeliness, and cost\nAssesses self and team capabilities through performance evaluation processes and determines appropriate training needs and recommends participation in training programs as needed\nProvides management, mentorship, coaching and development to department employees; supports personal goals as well as company succession planning \nMaintains ability to travel as required, up to 30% of the time\nTakes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization \n\n

Education: \n\nBachelor's degree in engineering (required); mechanical specialization (preferred) \n\n

Experience: \n\n10+ years project engineering \/ production \/ maintenance experience (required)\n5+ years of experience managing people (required) \nPrevious experience with Process Safety Management OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 (preferred)\nPrevious experience with Risk Management Plan EPA 40 CFR Part 68 (preferred)\n\n

Competencies: \n\nProficiency in manufacturing processes and Lean methodologies with strong problem-solving and project management skills \nExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain composure in a high-stress, high-energy environment\nStrong ability to influence teams in and outside of the engineering department \nProactive orientation with a focus on continuous improvement and providing constructive feedback\nAbility to manage complex and aggressive project schedules and deliver results on time and to specification\nRegular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role\n\n
