Overview The Director, Data Governance & Master Data Management is responsible for overseeing and managing our organization’s data governance and master data management initiatives. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity and compliance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce data standards, establish data governance processes and drive data governance best practices. You will also lead master data management activities including data modeling, data mapping and data quality management. This is a hybrid role with flexible work encouraged, based out of Gallagher’s global headquarters in Rolling Meadows, IL. How you'll make an impact Lead and manage the data governance and master data management initiatives, ensuring the successful implementation and adherence to data governance frameworks, policies and procedures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, business operations and compliance to define and enforce data standards, data quality rules and data governance processes. Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, including data governance charters, data dictionaries and data classification standards. Establish and maintain data governance processes such as data stewardship, data quality management and data issue resolution. Define and implement data governance best practices, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Manage master data management activities, including data modeling data mapping and data quality management. Collaborate with IT teams to implement and maintain master data management systems and tools. Develop and deliver data governance training programs to educate employees on data governance principles, policies and procedures. Monitor and measure data quality and data governance metrics, providing regular reports and insights to stakeholders. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data governance and master data management, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement. Collaborate with the security and compliance teams to ensure data privacy and regulatory compliance within the data governance and master data management processes. Participate in strategic planning and budgeting activities related to data governance and master data management. About You What skills will make you successful in this role? Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information management, or related field. A master’s degree is preferred. Proven experience (10 years) in data governance and master data management roles. Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks and best practices. Experience in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies and procedures. Knowledge of master data management concepts, including data modeling, data mapping and data quality management. Experience with master data management systems and tools. Proficiency in data analysis and data quality management techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex data governance and master data management issues. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results within tight deadlines.
